Still my favorite VS game of all time. Seeing this game in the arcade for the first time in 1996 as a 10 year old was mind blowing man. The fact that it was tag team, had crazy over the top super moves and air combos, and let you play as Street Fighter characters against the X Men was just crazy to me.

Man, that hand shake between Ryu and Cyclops is a fucking powerful image. Always loved X-Men vs Street Fighter, the music was probably the best in the VS series, a high bar to clear all things to consider.

Can you imagine what an X-Men VS Street Fighter 2 could be like now that we got so many more X-Men and Street Fighters?

Cool to see Sabertooth in action. He may not have all that much to him, but he's one of my favorites from the VS series. I never see anyone use him.

Good memories of playing this at Walmart. One of the only arcade games I ever beat and I believe the only arcade fighting game among them. With a team of Ken and Wolverine.

Brings back so many memories. The one game I played for my birthday on 1996 and was so good with Magneto and Cyclops. I only wish these games were digital on PSN or Xbox live.

This game blew my god damn mind when I was little. I had never seen a game that looked tbis good.

One of the games I happened to try on both the Saturn and the PS1 and I was amazed how amazing the Saturn version was compared to PS1 (with the Ram expansion of course). Like PS1 had worse visuals, constant loading and you couldn't freely switch between the two characters, while Saturn was basically arcade perfect and surprising no loading almost anywhere.

I love the artwork and the animations in this game. My mind was blown playing this on the Saturn back in the day.

This was my favorite Capcom game for a very long time, it wasn't until more recently that I started to favor Marvel vs Capcom 1 over it because of it's added mechanics that make the game slightly more interesting and complicated, the roster in XmvSF is nothing short of legendary.

Rogue might be the most interesting character to work with in a fighting game with her gimmick of stealing moves, sadly by MvsC2 they didn't care so they gave her some power up moves that most of the time are kind of meh, it would be interesting if they bring her back and make her also able to steal a Super Move, like Ryu's Shinku Hadouken or Hulk's Gamma Crush.

I remember seeing this game at an arcade by the beach when I was a kid. Blew my mind seeing the characyers do cool stuff. Some time later it became the first ps1 game I ever bought. I didn't even own the console, just played it on my uncle's. Not a great port, but still lots of fun!

I still remember the days of playing this at my favorite arcade/pizza parlor. Eventually my brother asked me to buy this game for Sega Saturn , we had to order it from an import specialty website, not available on amazon in those days.We both still treasure this game to this day.

This was my 2nd favorite versus game right behind MVC 2 and I remember buying a gameshark adapter just to play as Apocalypse. Damn I miss the late 90s.

I remember on a school trip to San Francisco in like middle school we went to an old arcade. I had been semi familiar with street fighter at the time because my dad loved the games. At the old arcade I remember finding an arcade machine titled X-Men vs Street Fighter and I lost my mind being big into superheroes and all. It was my first experience truly playing a fighting game and it’s what got me into them.

I always loved it when Cyclops says "Jeans Splice", it sounds like Jesus Christ 🤣

All of the art for this game is so divine. They put a bunch of art into the MvC3 artbook and it's glorious.

I bought the Japanese version for the Sega Saturn at launch with 4MB RAM cart, and had no idea how to do those air combos. I just played it combo-ing like regular SFs before 🙈

The first true Vs. game, and the first to have 2v2 tag teams! I remember how stoked I was when I learned that Rogue could use special moves of other characters after kissing them; my favorites were Yoga Flame, Spinning Pile Driver, and the Raging Demon!

Sabertooth lore: Sabertooth always tortured his little brother Saul in his birthday. There was a incident which ends with Logan killing Saul. When Sabertooth arrived at the circus where Saul their sister Clara were, only for Clara to tell him that Saul is no longer around for him to torment. Sabertooth decided to go after Wolverine on his birthday from now on.

Love the music in this game and the one time the SF characters got a different theme instead of their SFII one getting remixed every game.

I had the PS1 version as a kid, this takes me back. Good memories. Damn shame you couldn't swap with your assist character in that version.

Now THIS is my first "VS" type game I've ever played on Arcades. I was absolutely BLOWN away by the "2 character tag team" gameplay style, I didn't know Children of the Atom existed, I've only known Street Fighter 2 and Mortal Kombat (among others) at the time and seeing SF getting paired with my obsession with X-Men at the time, I think it was love at first sight when I glanced over this arcade back then. I've spent many, MANY quarters on this bitch and I just couldn't get enough of it.

This game was great. So was Marvel Superheroes vs Streetfighter. I played that one the most.

I've mostly played the saturn version and I dont think the computer blocks nearly as much in that version...then again, you still made this look easy lol

How does the Arcade 1up Cab's hold up compared to the original Arcade Machines?

The port of this on my Saturn was too easy. No matter the difficulty setting. However it was still fun. Best $75 I spent as a kid. Xmen children of the atom was nearly impossible to beat.

Every time I see you do expert settings and the CPI moves around but mostly blocks I always just scratch my damn head. When I play, they’re all out aggressive and always punish with full combo.
