@@zfilmmaker Thats a bit of a stretch... Most people on a street like that just don't allocate enough funds for snow removal, they just hope for a light winter and spend there money on fancy vehicles or toys and Lord knows what else

Thanks for your interest. After all the snow last winter rabbits walked over my 4' protective fences and ate my fruit trees. Today Ive added two more feet of wire mesh to the top - hope it will keep the rascals out this winter. Cheers!

Not much better here in the UK. Every winter since 2013/14 has been mild except for 2017/18, it's been really frustrating especially as we had some really snowy winters between 2009-13.

This snowstorm on the Avalon Peninsula last winter was definitely not "typical." It was all-time record breaking.

You truly don't. This storm brought our city to a hault. As a strong community we banded together to make it through and worked together to manage the challenges that came with so much snow. After the initial storm, lots of people made the best of the situation and enjoyed the snow-some may have even enjoyed those several days off from work/school. However, when I say our city shut down-it shut down. People were snowed in their homes, some without enough food or power. Prescription medications could not be refilled for several days as pharmacys were closed and for those who may have been in an abusive/unsafe home environment at the time likely had no escape for at least a few days while the snow was cleared. People woth menral health issues struggled with the loss of routine and structure in their day and restricted coping mechanisms. Going to socialize or for a walk became very difficult, if not impossible. Many people were stuck at their workplace for an extended period of time because they were both unable to get home through the snow, and their coworkers unable to get in. Animal shelters needed to have people there to care for the animals, the hospitals and emergency services were relying on people pulling extra long shifts. All in all, everyone who worked during this time was under more pressure then normal. I worked for a department store at the time and remember the line to get inside the first day it was open after several days of it being closed was outrageous. We ran out of things like bread and eggs, and other food items were quickly cleared out. My real point is that while the pictures and videos present some impressive and jaw-dropping amounts of snow and wind, for those who had to work, live, and deal with it all it was stressful. So perhaps you should wish for what we in Newfoundland consider an average amount of snow. Stay safe and take care through the pandemic, its certainly worse then "Snowmageddon 2020."

@@existwitheverything What kind of person doesn't have more than 3 days of food in their home? Abusive homes don't get better when the weather does. There were also some of the people that enjoyed the quiet from problem neighbors not being able to get out and bother them. And some of those stuck working overtime found it to be a blessing for their finances and were very grateful for the opportunity. Disruptions for a few days at a time is what makes life worth living. A dull routine that never has any changes can lead to boredom, apathy, carelessness, and depression.

@@hungryjack8032 it was longer than 3 days. The entire city was shut down and in a state of emergency for over 2 weeks. Even after the SOE was lifted due to the severity of the weather we were unable to receive food shipments, leaving grocery stores almost barren when everything did finally start slowly reopening. It was so bad people were bartering and trading non essential supplies for essential supplies with their neighbors and community members. No joke, people were in the streets trading cigarettes and liquor for bread and butter. We called it "Snowmageddon" for a reason.

It all depends on the wind, if there is t much wind it won’t drift up very much.

@@airsoftsnipes100 it’s a lot harder to dig out when you have a 10 foot tall drift in your driveway from the 100kmh+ winds than is to dig out from an even 42 inches everywhere. Also, snow packs together a lot harder in high vs no wind.

I think everywhere but Newfoundland was without snow that winter. Even the US had one of their warmest winters on record.

@Syver Bertilrud You're taking me a little too literally. Obviously Central Northern America is still gonna get snow. Just the places with more changeable winters all seemed to have a very mild winter.

The military was called in after a couple of days. They, along with some volunteers, targeted clearing snow from the personal properties of the elderly, infirm, and others in need of special assistance. The city was kept busy trying to open roads and then keep them open. It wasn't easy but most people made the best of it.
