Lich King (Arthas) died years ago, this time the role of this Lich King (Bolvar) was destroyed. The only one that died this time was Ner'zhul, Bolvar is very much alive.

When they merged it was just like when you see Bolvar accept the power of the Lich King. Ner'zhul clearly is no longer conscious, how ever the power is Ner'zhul's soul and he is always imprisoned with in the Armor.

So by lore standards she is more powerfull than everything in the entire series by far, she is basically a god at this point.

She has a connection to the Maw section of the shadow lands, wich every si gle living soul of azeroth has been going to for the past expansion, even if you where good. So she bevomes mlre powerful when anything dies, and the chains are from the jailor, wich is the one that desides what soul goes where. I think they just made an axcuse on why she was so powerful, they made a mistake on a potentially grat chatacter.

That said, Lich King had a fairly quiet reveal, but then the crowd exploded when the title screen showed up, probably because that cinematic had a much more somber feel to it than these more action oriented ones.

Arthas is 20x more powerful then this LK. If Bolvar had the Frostmourne he would end up on a tie with Sylvanas.

Lich King/Arthas/Ner'zhul was already destroyed pretty much in WOTLK....the most idiotic thing they could have done was to recycle the same character over and over again...I was actually fearful thats exactly what they might have done when they just "replaced" Arthas with Bolvar (this is when I really started to hate WoW's storytelling/lore) but Im glad that to see that Blizzard proved me wrong. That being said, I still want my Warcraft IV with story/timeline that throws WoW's events into trashbin or atleast retells them in better way.

I’m still super disappointed that Sylvanas beat Bolvar so easily, it was barely even a fight. Considering how important Bolvar’s job is by holding back a zombie apocalypse you would have thought he would put up way more of a fight.

Yup that is the reason she sided with death. As we see in Legion the "Light" and "Void" isnt just 100% good or 100% evil, that's why we need another source of major cosmic powers.

She has a deal with the Jailer (ruler of the "Maw") who gave her the super purple smoke powers, to send all the souls to the maw that powers it and in turn powers the jailer and her. Edit: Also I believe they said that Arthas is dead/gone for good, but we'll see others from previous lore around. All souls lost from legion through now went to the Maw though.
