Here's my review of the Bloch S0313L/S0313M Jason Samuels Smith tap shoe.
This shoe starts in Ladies sizes at a Bloch size 4 (UK size 1) and goes as large as a Bloch size 12 (UK size 9). It's also available in Men's sizes and starts at a size 6 and goes to a 13 (Mens sizes seemingly fit the same as UK Sizes).
The shoe is a leather upper and sole in an Oxford style with a canvas and kashmir lining. It's ready to go from the box and features a triple stacked (heavy!) heel, big taps with resonance plate for a good depth and pitch to the sound. Metal bonding is used to ensure the screws don't listen, unless of course you modify them yourself.
It's available in black as in the video and white (I'd have loved a white pair but just not practical for me).
I'll update you on the shoes after having worn them to class a few times.
**UPDATE**
So, I found I needed to wear an insole and a heel grip as they were falling off the back of my heel no matter how tight I pulled the laces. The insole and heel grip however made the shoes feel far too tight in the length so I took the insoles out and kept the heel grips in. So far the heel grips are working well but the shoes do still rub on my big toes - remember I already tried the bigger size but they're far too big. The heel grips will eventually lose their 'puffy-ness' so I'm sure this will improve.
The main reason I think I struggle to keep the shoe on my feet firmly are that they are very wide fitting (my feet aren't particularly narrow) and that the leather is really tough and the built up heels really heavy so I just need to wear them more to break them in. I only do one hour a week in them but after 2 months they're getting there.
Would I recommend them - yes. They sound gorgeous! But I'd only spend out if you are a serious tapper and those whose feet have stopped growing!
