Much simpler solution, go to the BIOS and turn off TPM and Secure boot. Suddenly, in the Microsoft eyes, the PC becomes e-waste unable running Windows 11.

In fact if you don't want to upgrade at all take out your TPM 2.0 chip and you should be fine it won't make you upgrade because Microsoft is FORCING people to have at least an 8gh gen Intel CPU and a TPM 2.0 so if you're like me stuck on a 6th gen Intel and no TPM you should be perfectly fine jokes on Microsoft.

@@TechnoMinded-qp5in Most people don't have a TPM chip to remove, it's part of the CPU. And... I guess if you remove your CPU, you won't get Windows 11. But you won't be able to use the computer at all.

Oh man that Windows 10 forced upgrade was rage inducing. I run a recording studio and had $10K+ worth of Firewire high end recording gear, and none of it had Win10 drivers. And one day it just upgraded it and I came in the next day with a session booked in and the whole thing was on fire. I think the resulting support call to microsoft was the only time I've actually angrily shouted at someone over the phone. That studio now runs on a mac (And the gear is now upgraded to thunderbolt stuff, which aint cheap)

I agree. In fact, I have Windows 10 dualbooted it with Linux Mint on my main pc which is a Dell Optiplex 9010 even though I originally wanted to install Windows 7 before dualbooting Mint because of how Windows 7 is lighter weight and uses less resources. However, the problem was that I for whatever reason had a hard time installing drivers for that pc despite the fact that I was actually using Windows 7 64 bit drivers from the official website for the Optiplex 9010 which is built for Windows 7 and shouldn't have any of the driver issues that I have experienced.

@@fexploder3281 My friend, now that you're telling me this, I'm reminded of some of the stuff I've been reading in regards to dual booting Windows and Linux, and I think it might be of some help to you. I don't know how much you've got in the way of space in your Optiplex, I don't suppose it's a whole lot if it looks anything like the Optiplexes I've worked with in the past, but you should still make an effort to add another drive, if you haven't already, and keep Linux and Windows in separate drives. Sometimes, with updates and everything, these guys don't play too nice together and they'll eat up the other one's partition just for kicks. Nasty way to end up losing your data. But you should be fine if you've got them in different drives already though!

I tried schedual, hoping to set some future point after I copied my files on to something else not cloud. But the only schedule options were next time it checks for updates or next time it's turned on. Grr coercive control much! I went round scheduled and back a few times then it Finnish showed a new prompt DECLINE UPDATE unsure of this was reversible later and with no other ways to get off this loop, I did long press on the power button to just close the system. If I am able to restart it, is that 'decline Howard's a permanent response, or is that going to be asking me that each time I turn on?

I just found out the hard way that in order to turn off TPM, you must disable bitlocker first, which by proxy is enabled when you sign in with your Microsoft account. It's stupid how I have to go out of my way just to finally mess with the bios. This is on the Inspiron 5620 btw. Man, laptops designed with Windows 7&8 in mind are way free and easier to do this because TPM and bit locker keys were never a requirement.

I can confirm we have had about half a dozen computers self-update to Windows 11 at my company. It doesn't happen often, and I haven't found any rhyme or reason to why it happens on one laptop but not on another identical laptop. So I would say it is definitely a rare thing, at least. (I had asked the users if they got any sort of pop-up or fullscreen thing that came up, and each one said no. Half of them are pretty technical people, as well.) Is it possible that it's something triggered by some Dell/HP/etc. software, maybe? That's just a wild guess. Anyway, just another data-point. 🙂

I clicked that bottom message but Windows 11 keeps popping up daily for the last few weeks i keep denying it but if i leave my computer alone well on for more then a few minutes it keeps trying to auto update within 20 minutes if i don’t tell it too stop.

It's not just a wrong click. With me it warned me that my system supports 11 and one day I just restarted there was not even an update notification after the restart it immediately started updating. There is a possibility to go back from 11 to 10 but it was already updated anyway so I decided to leave it. But right after installation I decided to play around and optimize it and disable a few service functions and quite a few unnecessary extras. It's currently running and in parts looks like Windows 10.

Wait.. the PC is running yet you still need to go round to the customers place? Doesn’t your RMM system warn you when somethings going wrong? Then the fix is easily rolled out remote. I never have to go onsite anymore unless theirs a hardware issue..

After hearing that win 10 wont be supported in 2025, I decided to get my pc ready for windows 11. The pc health checker is telling me that my pc meets the minimum requirements but when I check for updates, it says tthat it doesnt meet the requirements. I've noticed its a common issue but havent found a fix yet.

I havent seen one because I blocked updates when they could not fix that one that required the recovery partition to be resized which their instructions failed to finish. Which I am sure they never bothered to fix it.

With my laptop, Win 11 worked but it ran horrible. Browsers flashing, resetting themselves, lag, took the plunge and installed Linux Mint, worth it! It has been 4 months, and it was pretty seamless compared to the last time I tried Ubuntu years ago. Otherwise I was going to downgrade it to Win 10 and do this. Elder Scrolls Oblivion worked too, where it was almost unplayable every time Windows Defender kicked on. Was playing it for hours the other day.

Definitely agree, new PC windows 11, what a total hell to make it useable and disable all the web-integrations, Ai, apps.Even more than windows10 and 11 is outright slow compared to 10. The older PC is simply faster in daily use. Had to edit local group policy multiple times, registry edits to get 11 somewhat okish running. Older pc, i had TPM chip disabled when installing win10, this stops microsoft from offering windows11 lol. (do not disable TPM if already installed if you do not what you are doing!! It can lead to loss of all your data on the PC/non-bootable system).

Some while ago ms hassled me daily to "upgrade". (Why fix it if it isn't broken?) One day, I pressed on the wrong thing and away we go, here comes the next generation. This corrupted my computer which meant that a tech guy had to fix it. It was never the same again. That computer is now only used for playing videos via a TV ! This laptop was upgraded following CyberCPU guidelines (because of the constant ms nagging) and then downgraded back to a combination of win 10 and win 11. Unfortunately, consecutive upgrades have relocated the search window which has all kinds of crap in it again, and the windows button, bottom left, is inoperative. Thank you, microsoft.

I am a victim of this auto-upgrade!! I lost my lifetime critical data-- having nightmares!! Rich, could you give me some tips on how to recover the highly critical data I lost due to the Windows 11 (auto) upgrade from 10? I had my Desktop location pointing to Windows.old from a prior re-loading of Windows 10. The directory "Windows.old\Users\Owner" had all my Desktop files. Now this folder "Users\Owner" does not exist in my current Windows.old. Any hope at all?! I wish I had seen this video 2 weeks ago!! Thank you so much!!

Hi, I am Bradley Powell. I have cerebral palsy and autism. I am wondering if you could make another video like this but this time if there’s some kind of software or some other work around to stop Windows 11 because I have Windows 10 and my laptop is a HP laptop, running Windows10 and I don’t want Windows 11 but I completely do not feel comfortable going into my Rise and doing it myself. I may screw up something and I had to reinstall the operating system windows 10 and games and files and all that stuff yeah no I don’t want to do that, so if you have some other way to go and stop windows 11 from upgrading that would be perfect thank you.

As he stated, if that Key wasn't there, you have to create it. @DyceFreak posted a registry file 3 hours ago Just copy everything under the "Win10 22H2.reg:" into a text file, save that file with any file name you want and the " .reg " file type, then double click it.

Mine already did it, and I didn’t even notice until the ui looked different, but to be Honest, I was too lazy to downgrade it so I kept it, It’s actually not that bad. I actually prefer it. The Brightness Wi-Fi and Bluetooth bars are on the same navigation bar where as with windows 10 I had to go to the search bar and do it manually, which was really annoying So I actually prefer Windows 11
