No big deal Just like a dentist I love the channel, and you're sharing of knowledge and experience. "New" coat looks much more serviceable. I think the main lesson I'm taking away from this one is if you don't have decades of experience, don't use rapid set mortar. Thanks for another great upload!

Never knew so much people would want to get rid of their basement windows! Usualy you want more natural light in basement! Also thats a safety exit in case of fire. Live in cold Canada and never seen someone closing their windows to add a dryer vent or exhaust pipe. Here basement is very common since we need to dig under freezing for foundation so doing a basement is almost a free level to double the livkng space. You usualy just drill a hole and done.

Mike, great video once again! I have a similar project I'm doing but without the dryer vent. My foundation is made of 12x8x16 blocks. I was going block it up using the same blocks as the foundation however, I have joices creating a lip on both sides of the wall. This will make it quite challenging to install the blocks. Will probably need to install from the top down (if that makes sense). Would you do that with the normal size foundation blocks to be consistent or just use 4" solid blocks. Thanks again!

Ur info is amazing. I got a 120 yr old, and the foundation walls are now "ashing", dis-integrating, really crumbling, and powdering out. They use another word to describe this kind of decay, which i cant remember. But the walls are bad. Could i use cement to re-inforce these walls and fill in the cracks and hollows ???? What type of cement and additives do you recommend ??? And which for the exterior. if different for the interior???. The walls looks like old cinder blocks, some what like the same in this video, I know the walls are hollow inside, from the cracks i see in the foundation. Your input will be much appreciated. I live in Brooklyn NYC.

Anything different you would do if this was structural? If a new floor joist needs to sit on this portion of the closed up foundation?

Hi Mike, I have a block wall above grade that is hollow in a space I recently put in a heater. Now I have real bad condensation in NY in the winter. What can I use to fill the block cavity? I’d like to use sand or fiberglass as I can’t really access it to fill with concrete. Thanks for your advice!

Hi Lucas, that's a hard question, one of those things with masonry, sometimes its the type of heater, or too warm or insulation on inside or outside of building, I would ask some of the locals, I hope it helps mike

Mike, when you removed the old wooden frame, why did you leave in the top piece of wood?

Hi Bill, if I remember it was probably attached to wires or plumbing or I would need more room to open the window from the inside,, every job is a little different, I always try to choose the best options, thanks mike
