Not gonna lie, when she started pushing him away so that she wouldn’t attack him I started to tear up. I think a lot of movies screw up the final act of love from a parent a lot but I think this movie does it perfectly, it’s truly a beautiful but heartbreaking scene.

Except glossing over how white collar hijackers could anticipate and bring equipment for a vampire attack, meanwhile not being able to account for a regular bomb. Not to mention how every movie that's actually been successful, like Twilight, no character has ever even heard of the concept of a vampire.

I literally just finished watching this movie today an hour ago lol. It was so sad when they showed the backstory of how she becomes a vampire. She was just literally at the wrong place at the wrong time. The psycho asshole pissed me tf off. Im interested to see how they intend to ‘treat’ her in a sequel because that was never really explored yet it was the main reason why she was on a plane in the first place. I also love the fact that she actually looks like a monster and not some shiny ass version of a vampire. When she recovered from being shot and she started to transform freaked me tf out.

What I really liked about this movie is that everyone is actually shown to be really smart. Like the vampire mom does so many smart things like burning the pyscho guy inside the bulletproof car. The pyscho guy was relatively smart as well, figuring out really fast she was a vampire and making a stake and uv light. I thought it was nice that no one here did anything stupid, besides the kid at the beginning causing his mom to get shot.
@dustinjones7458

Made sense to me too. I think the psycho guy wasn't surprised because he's seen, heard, or even experienced stuff like this before. It follows this case of vampirism isn't just a one off random thing. It's a world where such things as we consider supernatural do exist, which makes sense considering the existence of inhibitor drugs and experimental treatments.

@@madlie2452 being smart probably wouldn't help a whole lot, especially in this situatuon. @@dustinjones7458 I really really like that in a movie though when characters realize a unrealistic but well known threat is happening like vampires. Normally, no one believes it until its very late and then freaks out over it and don't know how to deal with it. But I love how this psycho guy was, okay she is vampire, its well known that vampires hate sunlight so let's go get a blacklight, and you kill them with a stake to the heart so let's make a stake. That was just sorta nice to see.

From what I’ve heard from other people is that the medicine is actually a chemotherapy drug, which probably explains why Nadia loses her hair while none of the other vampires do, and connects back to the whole idea of it being a blood disease. *Edit* Apparently the drug is identified in the movie as Cytarabine, which is a chemotherapy drug that is used to treat leukemia, ie Blood Cancer. This definitely connects back to the concept of Vampirism being a blood disease and also explains why Nadja looks like Nosferatu, while the other Vampires, while monsterous, do not, as the side effects of cytarabine include hair loss and pale skin.

@@madlie2452 Parallels between drug addiction or alcoholism and vampirism are common. The idea is that a person could love their child but be so messed up with drugs or alcohol that they harm that child or at the very least can't take care of that child. Their drug craving or alcoholism is so strong that they put that before their child. (I've seen women swear they love their kid so much but to get them back from Children's Services/ Foster care they'd have to stop using drugs and they either can't or won't. The vampire loses her humanity and becomes a monster. Metaphorically it works.

@sigmacademy

Sure, but the kid knew that his mom was struggling with a really bad disease, and even at that age kids can recognize monsters. He realized at that moment that the vampire standing in front of him was no longer his mom, but something that just wanted to hurt people. I would say that his self preservation instinct kicked in at that moment - he realized that if she no longer could keep herself from hurting people that weren't threatening him or her, that she would have have no issue coming after him next. We even saw that with how she came after him in that scene.

There was a made for tv movie I think it was called Stake Land and it was pretty depressing seeing the aftermath of a vampire rising. It was a bit like several seasons of the Walking Dead smushed together. Like for instance the protagonist raising a kid whose parents were killed and running into a cult of human survivors who think the vamps are a curse from God for their wickedness and they must sacrifice people to placate God. And they run into other kinds of survivors etc.

We also have to say goodbye to our parents at some point. There's no guide book or anything that'll help us. You've just gotta deal with it and go on. It sucks. It sucks so very, very much. I'm so sorry you lost your dog. I know how hard it is. Only time can heal you, but even then it's not a complete healing. You'll always have memories you don't want to have. I hope you adopt another dog one day. There's one out there that could really use your help. That needs saving. Good luck.

I was quite pleasantly surprised when I watched this a few days ago. It was also quite bold to have the movie be equal parts in German and English, which was fun for me as someone who is fluent in both languages. The production value was also surprisingly high, and the makeup? Pretty awesome. Definitely a step up from the usual schlock.

This one was an unexpected treat… and is now one of my favourite vampire movies of all time. As others have said… the scene with her finally pushing away her son so she doesn’t harm him was heartbreaking… and the final scene of her fully transformed was terrifying. Great movie.

I applaud the writer for putting an Arab Muslim guy as the innocent victim and actually the nice guy and put the bad guys mostly white. Love how they wanted to show that terrorism is definitely not an Islamic thing but rather an individual act. Love movies that break negative & wrong stereotypes. 👏👏👏

best part : went into this movie blind, didn't even see the other poster, just the one with the planes on it, didn't know shit and thought it was just a normal thirller then started noticing weird things happening and then it hit me about the vampire thing and boy was my mind blown, this movie hits hard when u don't know what to expect, just like that THE SIGNAL movie, anw, good movie, had a blast, but i am sure most of the fun came from me not knowing it was a vampire movie and that was awesome, it sure pays off not to watch trailers or spoilers.

I had the trippy experience of watching this movie while on a night flight. I found it to be a bit ridiculous and the child to be very annoying, but I did admit that the woman was a wonderful mother who truly loved her son and wanted the best for him. It was the saving grace of the movie.

Elias is part vampire since he fed off the milk of his mother, the same way a mother will transmit her antibodies to her children through breast feeding. Clearly he's infected from a less virulent form of vampirism. This explains he's heighten senses. Elias is the german Blade.

Watched this film a couple days ago. I oddly enough like it, especially the fact that the main vampire was an innocent woman and the fact she didn’t let it entirely consume her and still loved and protected her son first and foremost, kind of was expected her to go full beast mode and bite him but obviously never did. Plus a villain who’s weirdly genre savvy and takes a supernatural threat seriously, even though short of being a clairvoyant shouldn’t really have known what to look for unless it’s explained in the meta he’s aware of supernatural forces and has done research.
