Burdge’s talk will focus on how there is hope for students who don’t seek a traditional four-year college degree and who fall through the cracks of the school system. He knows there are plenty of kids in schools throughout America just like him, who are bored, uninterested and unmotivated by the typical classes. It’s not that he doesn’t think it’s effective -- he just doesn’t believe it’s for everyone.
Eric Burdge is the owner of DRH Furniture, a woodworking business that specializes in 17th- and 18th-century-style handmade furniture. He encourages kids who are disenchanted with the education system to take their own path to success.
