There are several reasons why this video wouldn't be made today. Imagine if it was made today, Me Too and several others would be stomping on these guy's necks. There was no such thing as "cancel culture" in the 90s. The only thing we canceled was our BMG subscription if we wanted to switch to Columbia House and we rarely did that! Either you loved the content that was being put out or you didn't. If you didn't, you know what you did? You changed the channel. Personally I still love this song and video. Loved it then and love it now. I remember seeing it for the first time on MTV in the spring of 1999 which was a dominant year for music and movies in general to close out the millennium. I'm talking about the REAL MTV when they played nothing but heat!! Back when MTV was great to watch. Thats why we should appreciate, worship, and remember 90s music and culture because it will never be the same as it was back then. The way things are today, not a damn chance.

The people saying this couldn’t be made today because people are too offended by everything... 1) people still got offended by this song when it came out 2) people would be way more offended if this came out 20 years before than 20 years after People have been getting offended by stupid shit since the beginning of time, I don’t know why we’re acting like that’s something new

@royroyston84803 жыл бұрын
The problem now is that too many ppl are listening to the douchebags who are getting offended.
@Kurachi843 жыл бұрын
It's just gone way too far, where they attack anything that's not good enough for them. 20-30 years ago it was WAY less extreme to be "offended" than it is nowadays. Nowadays it's just not even something i can take seriously, as they take it to levels that the smartest and dumbest people don't understand... attention asking, maybe?? And the hostility is just evil at this point, as everyone who disagrees is gonna be accused of anything worse than the sources they complain about would ever be like, even out of context. Nowadays they also cancel people badly, even if it'd harm their mental health. Losing jobs over a simple opinion, and even under physical attack by those crazies.
@Madison-ok4sc3 жыл бұрын
Kurachi84 Im my opinion, the only reason things are taken to the extreme now, is not because we’re more offended, but because people have a way to express their offense and do something about it (social media). Social media is something previous generations have never had to deal with. I believe if it was around in the past, the older generation would have been way worse than we are now. Social media gives everyone the power to share their voice, and there are so many loud, racist, sexist, homophobic old people already. Just imagine if they grew up with social media. I firmly believe old people are the most sensitive, so it’s always so weird to me when people say people are sensitive nowadays. Overall, I do believe we are a more tolerant society than those before us. Definitely not perfect by any means, but I’d rather be in this generation than my grandparents
@royroyston84803 жыл бұрын
@@Madison-ok4sc But we aren't more tolerant. Just ask JK Rowling. She expressed a perfectly legitimate point of view and what happened? She becomes a victim of cancel culture. Take another example. Gone with the Wind being shown with a warning about the evils of slavery. Why is that necessary? Because some douchebag SJWs are looking for a reason to be offended and HBO immediately gives in. I can watch GWTW, and indeed any film from that era, and draw may own conclusions about the nature of that society at that time. I don't require a finger wagging lecture telling me that it's wrong. Where will it end? Why not show the same warning before the film Spartacus?

Drekherd I think you need something fouler than this. Something that will make the teachers cry. Something heavier. I might put on some Deathcore over the com on the last day. Thanks for the inspiration!

skankhunt42 I'm just saying "Isn't that how any group makes it big?" A group of friends hanging out saying "Hey, let's make a band". Then they do. next thing you know they're famous. I'm just saying, it's really that simple.

KICKASS SONG AND AWESOME VIDEO!! The best thing of not being an English native speaker but speaking and understandin the language is when you see people singing songs like this (sometimes making up the lyrics) and not having a clue of what they say. When you eventually explain and translate the lyrics and see the reaction it's really funny.
@guzbh10 жыл бұрын
okay, the people you're laughing about might not have a clue about what they're singing, so it's funny. I also think that it is funny point out mistakes for overconfident people: KICKASS SONG AND AWESOME VIDEO!! The best thing ABOUT not being a native ENGLISH speaker but STILL speaking and understandinD the language is when you see people singing songs like this ONE (sometimes making up the lyrics) and not having a clue of what they'RE sayING. IT'S REALLY FUNNY TO SEE THEIR REACTION WHEN YOU EVENTUALLY EXPLAIN AND TRANSLATE THE LYRICS

Toby Southall far from that. my english is not that good (it's my 4th language) and I'm fully aware of that. just don't like the fact that he feels more pleasure from people's lack of knowledge than his merits.
