Oh man how many times I've seen that movie! Still remember being called by a school friend 'Hey come over, I have a vhs movie rented you gotta see. Martial arts movie with guys even bigger than you'.....I was...am...a big guy nobody messed with, that's why 🤣. Niw, watched the movie and loved it! Got it copied on vhs for years and later bought it on dvd when those came around. This movie has become cult legendary over the years and rightfully so! The acting is B-movie at best but it doesn't matter, it actually adds to the charm. The training, the fights, it's all perfect. And then the music....perfect in its own right. Yes, cheesy 80's....but those were my teen years and I'm Dutch so I love me some cheese 😂! Music is awesome, glorious and perfectly integrated into the movie. At the end where Jean Claude defeats Bolo with those kicks the glorious music enhances those scenes perfectly. The training music....beautiful. So I got the original soundtrack on cd, the remaster from a couple years back and on the lookout for the double cd that came out in 2003 or so as it contains 1 song not featured on the other 2. And years later I could share watching this movie with my son, born in 1998 and now also a Jean Claude vanDamme fan, watching all the movies. One of the greatest movies ever made. No oscar material, serious people will trash it, but these are idiots as this movie has entertained millions and almost 40 years later we're still love watching it and talking about it.

I thought the same bro. This was a staple of my childhood I've seen this movie hundreds of times. I'm not even saying it's a great film because it's pretty badly put together and was clearly low budget, but from my perspective as a ten year old...it was awesome and I still love it. Along with Kickboxer, Universal Soldier, Commando, Terminator,Rocky's, K-9, Bill and Ted, Robocop, I could list so many. Those were the days when movies meant something to kids, we watched them over and over after looking forward for them to be released. I'd go back to being that ten year old tomorrow if I could. But god bless nostalgia eh. 👍🏼

Absolutely a classic martial art film of all time!! The cast. The talent. The location Hong Kong. Everything about this movie was great and we all know back then there wasn’t any green/blue screens. Just earlier one of my colleague mentioned “Bloodsport” and how much he loves this movie. I second to that and here on KZfaq I see this Bloodsport video pop up. “NO!! The bottom one!! - DIM MAC = death touch haha

Great movie, great cast, awesome soundtrack 👏 I'd love to see a proper documentary along with actual behind the scenes footage, I think VanDamme would have tons of this stuff available. Netflix made a series called "The Movies That Made Us", could you imagine a full episode dedicated to Bloodsport, it'd be awesome 👌

I still think they should've brought Atilla out for this movie....Atilla with his killer shades and the fluffy cat in one arm as he strolls through dark and eerie labyrinth of alleyways of Hong Kong's underworld.

Atilla (Abdel Qissi) wasn’t yet in the film business in 1988. In 1990 he was in Lionheart. And in 1996 he was the great mongol Kahn in the Quest. But like you say , it would’ve been awesome to have him also in bloodsport. His brother Mohammed Qissi was in bloodsport.

Twas a great movie indeed. Unfortunately it was just that, a movie. (Not based on a true story as it claimed.) The real Frank Dux was more often than not - full of shit. He already had an interesting story in the world of martial arts... Adding fictional elements or to be 'Frank' outright lies, ended up discrediting him entirely. /pun intended Edit: Again just to be clear, that's in regards to Frank Dux the person. Not directed towards good ol' Jean Claude Van Damme whatsoever. It's a damn shame Hollywood sorta black listed him due to the entire Predator situation.

he had a very strange technique , the moves resemble "monkey kung fu" (martial arts) style... I've never seen the technique in real fights..

Van Damme said in an interview that he saw an early rough cut of Bloodsport and it was terrible. There was bad directing, bad editing and no music. He then re-edited the movie and was a comercial success.

He edited many parts of the fight sequences and had to adjust the volume of the music and some sound effects. There was also something about the music of Cyborg. the music was much to loud and to much heavy metal , it destroyed the athmosphere of the movie . He had to change a lot of the music in Cyborg and make it more dark and mysterious ... @@user-hf4ep7xm4b

only jealous people say this .. do your homework and research before saying lazy comments .. He has a real karate and kickboxing record ! He was world level ! But he decided to go in the film industry... Claude Goetz , trainer of the European kickboxing team , trained him and has a lot of his medals and cups from 1976 till 1982 when Van Damme left Belgium for the States.
