@scootosan sand can be made if needed, sand is VERY inexpensive, and you are obviously going to need A LOT more than just sand to make it work...

@causechange Still needs fuel but much less and generates no CO2. Output is just pure water.

Okay the news is incredible if true. Yet the comments are like I don't know strange. If this is true power production as he says. I have B.S. in Renewable and Sustainable energy systems. I devoted a lot of my time my meager resources to the promotion of something that is necessary to the very survival of our species. Forget data and computers if this equipment works it can make everything Off-Grid. Tesla's new battery stores energy and does it well. If what they are saying is true this is a producer in a bottle it produces energy with zero toxic emissions. No solar , wind, hydro,it will revolutionise the face of power production. A car you would never need to charge. I saw those 4 boxes that are being tested at UCSC. They showed over a hundred solar panels and said that the panels don't produce as much energy as the four boxes. He showed a box the size of a toaster that would power an Average American home for 30 years! Its made with beach sand, and not some expensive alloy but a paint that has been patented. This will change everything. I'm surprised if this works he is alive. This will kill Coal, Fracking, uranium, stupid wars fought for the freedom of oil! I mean comon I can't be the only one that sees this equipment as amazing if true. The trouble that it has been kept so secret that finding information on it has proven to be hard. Universities, ebay Google are all testing the power output of these boxes. I only hope despite the comments here that it is true. I have built my business on selling clean energy equipment but I still hope it is true.

Google could afford to give everyone one of those things...I guess we see who's bed their in:-(

@WootMapler they explains it, not incredibly detailed(pretty vague actually), but it gives you the basic idea of how it works, and if you really do care about how it works then GOOGLE how the fuck it works.

it still requires fuel. it is just cleaner and more efficient in producing power (i doubt we will see a model that will power a whole home; it is more likely that it will reduce your home's energy costs by say 15-30% and be cleaner while doing it. the initial price minus goverment tax incentives would be recovered in savings within 5 years or so. I dont think electric utilities are gonna be happy about this...
