Trump's New York Sentencing Put Off to Sept. 18 Over Immunity

27 күн бұрынDonald Trump’s sentencing in his New York hush-money case was delayed two months until Sept. 18 so the judge can review the impact of a landmark US Supreme Court ruling about presidential immunity.
Justice Juan Merchan in Manhattan set the new date Tuesday after Trump sought a delay as part of a bid to overturn his conviction on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records. The judge said he’ll impose the sentence if “necessary,” suggesting the possibility he could grant Trump’s request to throw out the verdict.

He might not go to prison but he for sure wouldn't avoid getting sentenced for 34 felonies. He'll get at minimum home arrest..

@@cool_monke8355 Read the letter from the judge. he acknowledges that on September 6th, the planned motion ruling date, he may decide the case must be thrown out for the introduction of impermissible evidence under the supreme court ruling. and his ruling will be subject to immediate federal court appeal.

All respect is out when you are supposed to defend the law and then throw it out. Done. Do the time. Martha Stewart served her time and didn't wail and cry like this. She didn't need a Supreme Court to try to get her off. She didn't say it was rigged either. She DID HER TIME. She respected the rule of law. What a disgusting display. You're mixing apples and oranges here. Stewart's case involved insider trading, where she made finical profit. Trump's company repaid the hush money to his attorney with 51 payments, and deducted it as legal expenses. There are 51 counts of fraud because there were 51 checks written to keep it under the radar. He could have drawn out cash or just written 'Bonus'in the memo section, but his lawyer sent him a statement for ''legal services'.

@cool_monke8355 he has been found guilty of 34 unspecified charges by a rigged jury in the court of a corrupt judge,which means nothing. If you were set up by criminals,, accused of unspecified charges by a specially selected rigged jury, they may say you are guilty, which is not the same as being guilty. NY has a broken justice system which includes the NY bar. I know he is not guilty, and so does a majority of the American people. However, the corrupt prosecutor, judge and bought Trump hating jury are guilty of a very serious crime. Trump will win this on appeal as the case is laughable.
