I actually like the idea of the planeswalking here turning you into an animal. Planes tend to have different rules and the mana and magic energies are likely fundamentally different. Not being an animal here might be like going to mars without a space suit. I kinda like themes like this better than "Everyone wore detective hats, as it was the style at the time" 😂

There’s ten major creature types across all color pairs so each color has four creature types that it cares about. That’s why you’ve got the weird four type lords.

Expend only counts the mana spent on spells, not abilities. They clarified that in the stream, it might be easy to miss in the rules text but it says that there too.

3:21 This makes me glad that the Capenna Fetchlands are Rotating out of Standard with the Release of Bloomburrow. Cause Creatures with Expend will become a major boost for any deck that abuses Nissa, Acended Animist and Kami of Whispered Hopes since it cares about Mana being spent, not the source of that Mana 4:23 Oh man. Time to expect more Roots Decks in Bloomburrow Standard since they will love Forage

I'm definitely making an Ygra deck, love the fringe ward ability. I might toss in Night of the Sweets Revenge and some mana fixing creatures/lands to play that blue season sorcery so I can copy creatures on the board after they become food artifacts!

Rotcaller/Questcaller isn't really the "bad" animals vs the "good" animals. Rats and Bats at least are very much good on the majority of the cards we've seen. Rather, the Rotcaller calls out all four creature types that have Black in their identity and Questcaller calls out the ones with White in their identity. Presumably there will be a blue one for Birds/Rats/Otters/Frogs, Red one for Mice/Otters/Lizards/Raccoons and the Green one for Rabbits/Frogs/Squirrels/Raccoons.

Just a note the the Imagine Critters sheet isn't in play booster so they wont be in limited. Special guests are the only bonus cards that will be in play boosters that aren't standard legal.

Imagine: Critters is exclusive to the Collector Boosters (aside from the 4 in commander precons) so it's not guaranteed that they'll be added to Arena.

Gifting will be a communication nightmare in competitive events. "I never said I would give you the gift!" and that's not even talking about language barriers. I wouldn't be surprised if they're gonna ask people to put down the card on the table, while it's in the stack, with or without a gift identifier on the card so it is crystal clear what the intentions are. Cool mechanic otherwise!

Expend seems like a dumb mechanic, it seems that the payoffs are bad, but i assure yall, in play most of the expend cards are extremely good in aggressive decks. It asks nothing but a curve out which you already want to do, good thing is removal is plentiful and good on rate.

angels and clerics lose so much this rotation and they gain zero good cards in return . ( so far ) at least i hope they will not make up new control cards to replace the ones rotate out .
