I mean like the giant humanoid with octopus for a head and bat wings was only an expectation but in reality it's an island sized leviathan that is so big it's capable of swallowing a landmark and it's like the lovecraftians predicted Cthulhu would some day wake up somewhere in R'lyeh but that creature from R'lyeh is not what they thought it looked like.
