Actually no. Heat goes to cold. So as heat that conducts down thru your building materials makes it into the crawlspace it will heat up the air and moisture within it and it will rise into the home through convection-holes cracks, crevices, plumbing chases, chimney chases etc. this happens also if you have a rim joist that isn't treated in a basement. as you lose warm air through convection and conduction thru the attic floor or upper floor ceiling, it must be replaced and typically the path of least resistance is the rim joist. It sucs in that dense cold air and creates the stack effect. Blower door is definitely an exaggerated effect but you are also most definitely experiencing significant leaks and heat loss through that crawl space if not treated appropriately with both an air barrier and insulation.

if it were gas the flue pipe that you see would be coming off the top. that appears to be an electric system. You can see the white cables at the top are conduit.
