I just watched this again I love the bubbles. I'm still excited to see you do the vactube video. I'm so excited to see you design and make some. I just found a guy that said it took him 2 hours to make 1. It was a 50/75 I believe he called it. When someone asked if it was a 35/67 I believe. It was a dicro and 12 color rainbow. I have a picture I'll send you on ig. Thank you my friend for another great video. Always love from Upstate Ny to you and your family.

I am a layman do not have the tools nor the incredible torch you have...and may times I am only recycling glass parts...you are much more skilled then I will ever be ...I have two things I have noticed ..one when joining two pieces I like to start with a corner and then roll them together. Helps me get a better join with out gaps . Two when joining two pieces , and maybe this is because I don't have the tools nor that torch but I found at a certain heat once glass is ...? Sweating ? A little wiggle really gets glass moving and can erase seams ...idk what do you think ....and yes I always think of glass as actually having 8 sides 2 top 2 bottom two left and 2 right as their is an inside as well as an out side .
@FusingShop
@FusingShop 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Lee! Thanks so much for the detailed comment. You can probably find a used torch on craigslist or eBay for not too much money. Your advice for joining two pieces of glass is very sound. Rolling them together is a great way to seal the two pieces. Getting the two pieces at the same temperature is important to make a good hot seal that will flow smoothly together. I agree 100% about the glass having 8 sides. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!

Love the first vid I saw. I try to fix my “ tobacco pipe; but the problem I have is every time I’m done welding some thing together it cracks and splits and I try to keep heat to it but it’s not enough to keep it from cracking or splitting is it the glass or is it the operator
@FusingShop
@FusingShop 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Justin! Glassblowing takes a long time to get good at. The best way to keep the glass from cracking is to use gentle heat when introducing the glass into the flame. Make sure to keep the area you are working on hot or it can cause from thermal shock. Any type of defects also cause cracks such as uneven walls thickness, folds in the glass, air bubbles, poorly made seals, etc. Hope this helps!

Hey i want too start glass blowing did you use a kiln for this type of a piece ? Im going too buy a torch and im not sure if i need a kiln for these types of projects please help :)
@FusingShop
@FusingShop 2 жыл бұрын
Hey SHMG! Yes, you definitely need a kiln to anneal functional glass. As you work the glass it puts stress on the glass and if the glass is exposed to high temperatures it can crack or shatter. Always anneal your pieces to make sure they are stable.

Hi Jimmy! Finding a teacher to work with you hands-on is the best way to get started. This way you can learn the basics and especially the safety part of working with glass. KZfaq is a great resource but it's not a substitute for working side by side with someone. We all try to cover as much as we can in our videos, but sometimes things are forgotten. Plus having someone right by you to guide you is invaluable.

BOUGHT SOME GLASS TUBES FROM A NEON SIGN MAKER. The tubes are clear. However when I put the torch to it and close the end to blow a herb bowl; the glass turns dark gray with a metallic shine to every place I used the torch. Is that safe to smoke out of? why would it change color like that? I have not added anything to it

@FusingShop

Hey Sonic! You need oxygen and propane to run the torch. A torch can be a huge investment so it's important to know what you plan on making. Beads, marbles, and small pipes can all be made on a smaller torch.

I am going to pause this demo, cuz I don't think I can sit through it without trailing off and missing the rest ..be back after...thanks for the stuff you don't KNOW your teaching as well as the rest..
