Great scenery and plenty to walk. I’d call the landscape near the end, a hanging valley. Basically either a valley within a valley or an enclosed valley as either an off-shoot to the main valley or a bowl on the side of a valley, often with a pond or lake. Thank you for sharing your mini adventure.

Wow Buddy that wind was HOWLING THERE ! SHEESH ! Man that looked like such a cool place...you can pan for gold and I will go catch a mess of fish to fry up quick for shore lunch....eh ? What a nice way to spend a blow out day ! Had to stop watching yesterday about halfway thru so finished watching this morning..before we head out to work.....and yeah you didn't make any big gold strike money today but you took us along on a really cool trip anyways. As a BC retired logger too, I wish you would give us the locations. Blow outs were fun, fishing days. Best location I was at was head of Owikeno Lake on Rivers Inlet.Griz Country had eyes on all the time fishing, that was pre incinerator days, dump sites were fun, slingshots , we were nuts.

I was wondering whether you take your own lunch and one for any bears you come across. You know something that'll keep them busy for a while. It'd be interesting using a sonar on those lakes to find the deepest holes and then using a small floating dredge and sluice to see what colour you get. I'm sitting here in shorts and I guess you'd find that exercise a bit colder. Even those inlets would have some interesting deep crevices. I guess it's a silly question asking if there's history of gold in the area. Many years ago I bought a metal detector and used it in some of the most isolated parts of Australia and I wondered if I was the first person to have ever crossed that bit of the country but all I found were those damn aluminum ring pulls from soda cans. Hey you never know unless you have a go.

I have a question that bothers me when I see what is left after the crews are all gone, that is why don’t they clear everything out? All the dead trees and what not. Doesn’t that end up being fuel for a fire? I imagine it doesn’t hurt new growth. That one section you walked through near the end was full of bones.

18:40 Limestone is a calcite rock. Calcite and Aragonite make up limestone. They are just different crystals of Calcium Carbonate.

Laughable effort to find gold on that creek.You scooped up sand and gold is 19 times the weight of water so will sink way below where you were looking. You need to check bedrock and gold if the gold is present it will be down in the cracks.If the cracks are packed with gravel the better the gold.
