CONFESSION: I purchased the volume injection shampoo and conditioner and posted that I agreed with some others that it made my hair drier and more brittle and put it away. Decided to rewatch your how to shampoo your hair video again and I did the Trinity system, added some heat protection and roughly blow dried. I've woken up this morning with clean hair that is not laying flat on my scalp, has volume, shine and body. I don't even need to do anything to my hair!!!!!!

@@SecretSquirrrrel it depends on your hair type. I have a lot of fine hair and the volume injection redkin helped bring it back to life after a year of using the redkin argan oil line. The argan oil weighed down my hair and made the ends super thin and crunchy, and my scalp was left dry and itchy. Now my hair seems cleaner and lighter and softer. Maybe check the reviews with the hair types listed it might help. It’s worth a try for sure. I also use the leave in conditioner from purology.

I'd love if someday you'd talk about personalized shampoo brands like Function of Beauty or Prose. The ones where you fill out an online survey and they formulate a special shampoo that's (according to them) perfect for your hair. Do you have opinions on them? How often do they land on that "hair soul mate" formula in your experience? Since that's their main selling point it *ought* to be pretty often, but it feels too good to be true since they haven't taken over the industry yet.

Personal opinion here! I tried Function of Beauty and absolutely loved it, healthiest my hair has ever looked and felt after using it. My partner used it for their flaky, itchy scalp and helped them as well. I can even use the formula my partner uses and it still makes my hair feel good which tells me the base formula that FoB uses is overall really good. I stopped using it just because money is tight but will absolutely go back when I can. Everyone is different though but thought I would give my thoughts after using it for a few months!

Started following the trinity on natural graying dry fine straight hair & my hair is the best it’s ever been. Went so against everything I ever did to my hair including very light wash to not dry out, extra heavy conditioners & mask, oil, etc. now double wash typically 1 x a week but live in tropical climate - hot & humid - so maybe 2x in summer. Having been an admitted professional hair care junkie for life this routine has been life changing but still have to remind myself to step away from the hair products aisle.

I am *obsessed* with the ultralight, saturating hair oil from Sisley. I have incredibly fine hair, nearly bald PCOS-cancer remission hair. I’m almost 60 & my hair barely has any grey. But there are a few strands that are entirely a different, more duty texture than my arrow-straight dark hair. I shampoo gently. I use a length conditioner, towel dry lightly, then I use a scalp serum & ends oil. Then a slight misting if leave-in yo hold it back gently. People might sneer that I use Sisley hair oil, but it is soo much less sticky & thick that I can distribute it

I just want to make sure I am getting the right products. Also, have you heard or tried the Colleen Rothschild products? I’ve watched a KZfaq person talk about them and rave. I did order the whole system before I found your channel. They are okay. Not sure how I feel about them yet. And I have the kerstase oil. Is that comparable to the olaplex? I want to say thank you for making it simple for healthy hair. I have a product graveyard under my sink in the bathroom. For years I kept trying the curly girl method and kept buying more and more products hoping they would become my “ holy grail”. And honestly, sometimes it was just too many steps and too many products. Thank you and have a great day!!

My hair is damaged, falls out a lot, oily, does not grow and I have tried everything. I will try to stick to the routine you said. I will wash my hair 2 times a week and do a deep clean once a week, but I also want to do an oil treatment for scalp once a week so that my hair stays stronger and healthier. I don’t want to constantly wear my hair straight by blow drying it but also don’t want to use the diffuser to make my curls. It dries out pretty naturally but all the curl creams I’ve got make my hair look bad the next day. Since I’ve been dying my hair it is also quite porous so even after I blow dry it, it gets very puffy and almost never smooth. I use high quality products usually but unfortunately still have not been able to get my hair where I want it to be… but I’ve been following your hair care recommendations and can say the quality of the hair has improved and hair stays clean longer :) thank you!

It's taken me a few days, but I just discovered your channel and I think I've now made my way through all of your videos. I want to thank you for doing what you do! I love it when you bust out Christina in the videos, "she's" fun! :D And has great hair, lol, that's an impressive wig! I'd be happy to have my hair look like that every day. I used to use Redken color magnetics shampoo and all soft conditioner and switched over to Biolage sulfate free shampoo and their conditioning balm about a year ago (not a fan, will not be buying that one again. This video confirms my suspicsions about it, haha!) when the price jumped on the Redken. I really liked the Redken, but could still never go over a day without washing my hair, I was still washing every day. After watching your videos, now I know why! I was using the proper technique, but the shampoo just wasn't doing a good job of cleansing for me and the all soft was probably too heavy for my hair type. My hair has always been healthy, but it's fine and thin and while I don't get many split ends or damage, frizz has always been my biggest challenge. I just got the Pureology leave in conditioner and Olaplex number 7 oil you recommend and have used each of them once and already noticed a difference! I am now on day three of not having to wash my hair (a first for me, EVER!) I also just ordered the Redken Volume Injection shampoo and conditioner, along with the Hot Set 22 and Big Blowout. I cannot wait to try the whole system together using all of your tips and techniques! It was an investment, but one I know is going to make a difference in my hair. It makes so much more sense to spend a bit on the good quality professional products that will keep my hair cleaner for longer and actually end up spending less in the long run while having hair that looks better the whole time. Saving time and money and having hair that looks good--a win win win in my book! Thank you again for all you do, your videos are as fantastic as your arms....and that's REALLY fantastic! :)

Hi Chris! Great video's, learning so much! 😊 Quick question about leave-in-conditioner and hair oil. How wet should your hair be when applying the leave in? Wet or towel dry? And same question for the oil; should you apply it right after the leave in conditioner, or should your haid be dry? Thanks!

No because you literally use conditioner to replace the oil you strip, your scalp over produces oil if you keep scrubbing it off. Also like attracts like, you can use oil to cleanse skin, you basically remove the old sweaty sebum but don’t strip your scalp of any oil it has ever produced.

Hi Chris, what's your best suggestion or recommendation for itchy clean scalp. A couple of hours after my routine shampoo conditioner leave in, my scalp starts to itch like crazy, no dandruff issues ever just itching omg I have to apply scalpacin or I can't get any sleep. I have been watching your videos and I'm sure you have the answer. Thanks for sharing your humor as well😏

Another thing re color safe shampoos: my hair is pink (from a conditioner, no less) but it lasts forever. I think because I’m older. It falls out of my son’s hair super fast. So, I think colorsafe might only be necessary for ppl in their teens and 20s when their hair is oilier. I’d like to know more about using heat styling (on my fine, straight, yet frizzy hair) to control frizz. I am an air dryer mostly because I am completely hair inept. The only plus side of that is that I could never get down the styles of the 80s and 90s, so I don’t have embarrassing hair pics. But I’d like to know how to deal with frizz.

I feel like there’s a lot of mixed opinions on the Olaplex shampoo.. I actually love it. My hair is very fine, but I have a lot of it and it’s very long. I bought the Redken Volume Injection and tried my best to wash my hair like I was at the salon, and it seemed very clean but my hair was also like.. too lightweight? My hair felt super fine and lightweight, but that did not translate to volume, despite also trying all the blow dry techniques and products. It got oily within 2 days. I went back to Olaplex shampoo, alternating with Ouai detox shampoo every once in awhile and I think that’s really the magic cocktail for my hair to have some grit and body to it. I know the bond repair aspect of the shampoo is a stretch, but I do feel like it somehow gives my hair some volume while also getting it super clean.

It is a tiny bit misleading. All soap is made of oil and alkali. That's what soap is. Back in the day, they would mix melted animal fat with quick lime or ashes from the fireplace and boom, soap. So, I guess it depends on the formulation more than the ingredients.

Okay, so my gray hair is silver and ash blonde with a few darker streaks scattered throughout, just like my gramma's when she went gray! I was happily using Silverati, which is a ridiculous splurge, but professional purple colors ranging from lighter to darker created a slight purple glow to my whole head, like I was bathing in a hazardous waste dump. I don't need brassiness removed, I don't have that, only like to encourage the silver to stay as shiny as possible. It has been out of stock for months and I just ordered the Silverati conditioner and masque that I will use with some other shampoo. What are the odds that this Olaplex product will give me the purple glow? Should I just use a professional shampoo of my choice and hunker down to wait? I can't figure if they are going to pull the line or if it is due to the dreadful and tedious supply chain issue. Oribe's other products seem fully stocked. Any thoughts from those familiar with caring for ash blond/ silver hair? Great content on this channel, so glad it popped up in my feed.

I agree, I try to leave all that extra stuff out of my shampoos and focus solely on scalp cleansing. What I like to do if I want to incorporate moisturizer or oils is to lightly spritz Shu Uemura Izumi Tonic Strengthening Rice Water Treatment to my length and ends in-between my wash days to add moisture and seal that in with your favorite daily oil. This product is expensive, but if you find your hair getting dry in-between wash days, this might help someone out there. This product is also good to lightly spray in your scalp. If it is too expensive, I feel like any purified water will do. A light spritz won't even undo my style (I straighten and curl with heat)

Hi! I am finding your videos very informative. I would like to ask you what is your opinion on the Curly Method. Not Lorraine Massey's original movement, but the "modified" one which includes cowashes or delicate low-poo without aggressive sulphates (such as sodium laureth sulfate, sodium lauryl sulfate) and the use of a purifier at every certain wash. Do you find it valid?

I honestly don’t like anything with shea or argan oil because it irritates my skin. Coconut oil doesn’t penetrate the hair shaft either and just sits on top which weighs my hair down but it still ends up dry and frizzy. My friend is very allergic to nuts and this argan oil and shea trend has made her break out so bad since they are both from tree nuts. She has a hard time finding stuff she can use these days that actually work well for her hair.
