Blue Bird's Electronic Stability Control with Bendix ESP

There is no doubt that ESC is one of the more impressive safety innovations for school buses on the market today. The system implements a series of sensors, which help to measure the steering angle, YAW rate, brake pressure and lateral acceleration of the bus. If a driver encounters a negative driving situation- typically caused by harsh road conditions- the system has the capability of taking over- mitigating loss-of-control of the vehicle and helping to keep the bus safely on its original path. This is accomplished by slowing it down with selective application of the vehicle brakes. Currently, Electronic Stability Control is available through Blue Bird dealers nationwide.

I've been in a Thomas C2 that slid on a muddy road, which was presumed drifting. Luckily, it was only a few people on the bus.

AviationKidOfficial A driver would not drift as it sacrifices safety unless the vehicle is equipped with ESP all day long and the bus is in empty space.
