We're going to show you an easy cheap way to catch blue crabs and do a little fishing while we wait on the crabs to get in our basket. Then, we'll show you how we clean and cook our blue crabs. For our day of effort, we get a surprise dinner from our buddy LeGrande. #crabbing #cooking #crab
THANK YOU TO ALL OF OUR PATREON PATRONS!!!
With a special thank you to John & Dawn Hrdlick, Laurie Large, Glenda Roberts, Gracie Hood, Michelle Day & Dorris Roberts.

Learn how, when and where to look for seashells & train your eyes how to find/spot/discover sea shells/shark teeth/fossils in the sand along tide wrack lines. Common beach treasures found beachcombing, sea shelling & exploring along the Lowcountry Ace Basin Beaufort, South Carolina coastline include whelk (knobbed/knobby, channeled, kiener, pear), lettered olive (SC state shell), shark eye moon snails, angel wing shells, clams (Quahog, Venus, jackknife, razor, imperial), blue mussels, lucines, murex (giant eastern, lace, apple), sea urchin, sand dollars, seastar/starfish, tulip (banded & true) auger, baby's ear, coral frags, jingle, slipper, drill, periwinkle, egg casings, horseshoe crab shells, sea sponges & seawhips. Our favorite rare beach finds include Indian artifacts, vertebrae, giant tun shell, mermaid purse, fossil shells & antique bottles! Along our virtual beach walks, we encounter living sea creatures, including hermit crabs in the tide pools. We have a huge seashell collection. We give away a lot of beach treasures via channel giveaways & to our Patreon Patrons as our appreciation!
Crabbing tips & tricks: how to/what to use to bait & catch blue crab with crab pots/traps or baskets; how to measure blue crab/stone crab claws; how to clean/cook crabs; how to determine sex/maturity of blue crabs; regulations & requirements for crabbing in SC.
Inshore & offshore/deep sea fishing adventures: learn how to fish Carolina rigs using mud minnows, shrimp, squid or fiddler crabs catching spottail bass (bull redfish/red drum), spotted sea trout, sheepshead, flounder (gigging too), triggerfish, snapper, grouper, mackeral, bluefish, black drum, black sea bass, whiting, cobia, shark & more!
Shrimp trawling: how to shrimp dragging a 25 ft trawl net with our small 17 ft boat; checking our nets; showing/sorting our catch; throwing back bycatch (squid, bait fish, skates/rays). Watch as dolphin & shorebirds (gulls, terns, pelicans) follow shrimp boats to catch a meal.

That's what you call self-sufficient right there. You caught your own bait, used that to catch your supper, and returned the scraps back to the marsh to attract and sustain even more life. Steph and LeGrande's mom sure knows how to cook. Yall are living the good life with great neighbors, good food, and a beautiful view! Keep on taking us along on your journey 🥰

I don't know how you could find a better friend than Legrand. I was born and raised in Sumter, S.C. I am now 82 years old. Served in the US Navy for 13 years. Served in Vietnam. Lived in Myrtle Beach for 15 years. Those slews you go crabbing in reminds me of when we were at the beach. We did not do any crabbing, but did some shrimping. When the spots use to run we would catch 2 or 3 at a time. Great memories. Thoroughly enjoy the videos you guys produce.

I'm glad to hear our videos bring back your good memories. Thanks for your service and support. What bait did you use to catch spots. I've heard some people use red worms. We catch some using shrimp, and we catch them while we're trawling for shrimp. They have a sweet taste.

Hi guys, I hope you both are well, I in joy your videos very much so I'm going to give you and anybody that's watching. This is the best way to catch anykind crabs, do this one thing, chicken that's old and stinks, let it sit out about a day and a half the more it stinks the more the Crabs will love it and the big ones will bully the other's please try it just once and you will understand that crabs are scavengers and and rather eat dead meat
@SaltyReflections

Great advice. I've noticed the pots catch more crabs the second day. I think it's because of how stinky the bait gets.

We've never tried stingray. We've talked to others who have & say it's good. There was a carcass of a huge one at the boat landing yesterday that someone had fileted, Oliver posted pics in our FB group.

There should be public boat ramps and piers there that you can crab from.

A faster way: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/aLuim9yWyrLbgmQ.html kzfaq.info/get/bejne/aNljhpplmtOVcXU.html Save the top shell for the encrusted seasoning, eat the mustard if desired. Occasionally dip a morsel into apple cider vinegar then touch the encrusted seasoning for a blend of flavors. Enjoy that sweet crab meat, save the buttter for pancakes and lobster, Old Bay or J O 2 to be used during the cooking process - use the top shell encrusted seasoning, put the tools back in the workshop - only need a table knife.

Just a question: Wouldn't the shell come off a little easier IF you pulled the apron off 1st & lifted the shell from the back? I know when a Whole crab is steamed, the way I mentioned makes the shell come off the easiest way. // Also to save a few more seconds, the hose will wash the devil fingers off too, no need to pick them off 1st.

I seem to have more leverage when I pull the shell off the crabs from the side. The legs or claws give me something to hold the body down. Yes, if the hose or nozzle has lots of pressure, it will knock the lungs off.
