It was from skill only, the Blue Eyes Dimension Skill and scorns of ultimate defeat Skill

I thought cards that let your draw more then 2 cards or 3 and discarded cards were banned to use in tournaments

you're likely thinking or pot of greed and graceful charity. pot of duality does not do that. it looks at the top 3 cards of your deck, adds 1, and then *shuffles* the rest back. and then it restricts you from special summoning for the rest of the turn. that restriction is what causes it to not only avoid the banlist, but also 99% of competitive decks.
