Formerly known as Ninja, this Vekoma Custom MK-1200 looping coaster features a butterfly, reverse sidewinder, as well as a double corkscrew. Did you know that this topsy-turvy ride was relocated from Dinosaur Beach in Wildwood, New Jersey, where it only operated for three seasons before the move south?

I last rode this as Ninja I believe in the 90's - its was pretty uncomfortable. My understanding is that the retrack was a great improvement and they changed the seat molding that used to smack in the ears whenever your head moved left or right. I wish me in my teens and 20's had a chance to ride the current iteration 😁

Yes! I thought this was ninja before. I do not miss getting ear boxed by this thing! It's significantly better now. But I couldn't remember what it use to be.

The voice in the que says it’s better but if that’s true I’m glad I never rode it before. Because it’s horrible now. Worst coaster I’ve ever been on

Underrated coaster! It’s a little bumpy but that doesn’t affect any enjoyment of the ride, and it does have its dead spots towards the end but it has some quite intense moments and stellar headchoppers in its compact nature!

I quite agree. This coaster is fun anywhere. Everyone should ride in the front, the middle the back, or do what I do and ride all 3 choices

This roller coaster used to be called “Ninja”and the tracks were painted red and those column support were painted white.

There's a reason for that. This coaster was planned to be placed where Great Nor'Easter is now at Morey's Piers, and was specifically designed to weave around the existing water park and log flume. Due to financial issues, this plan did not go through; instead, MP decided to commission Vekoma to build an inverted coaster in the space instead. Vekoma once again designed a ride specifically to fit into that space, resulting in an odd design with a heart-shaped first inversion that Vekoma called a Roll Over. Once again, financial issues delayed the project; in the meantime, Vekoma sold the sit-down looper to Dinosaur Beach and built two clones of the Morey's Piers layout at Walibi Holland and Kentucky Kingdom. Dinosaur Beach eventually closed and sold the coaster to SFOG, where it sits today. Eventually, Morey's Piers got their SLC, which still thrills riders today. This is why the SLC has such an odd layout, and why Blue Hawk looks so similar to an SLC: both were designed to sit in the same tight plot of land on a pier in New Jersey!

⁠@@SPRINKES88No, this is imo the most tame at sfog, the drop is not steep at all, plus it has vest restraints which eliminate all stomach feeling. The ones you should be worried about the stomach feeling are goliath and twisted cyclone.

I must have missed something. Just rode it last week and not only was it super rough, it felt unsafe and is firmly ranked dead last in my coaster rankings. Even below kiddie coasters. Just flat out awful

Blue Hawk is bumpy, but it's that classic bumpy. I never got to ride it as Ninja, but from what I've heard from folks who did the transformation into Blue Hawk(the repaint and retrack)was a much-needed refurb

omfg this ride was fun but holey heck did this ride give me whiplash, it makes your neck swing left and right there’s so much g force on your body that if you look down you CANT bring your head back up

The good ole Ninja. I road this ride the first day it was open. Gave me a headache every-time. It looks a lot smoother than it once was. Did they make any changes?

Welllllll... I've been on this in both incarnations, and while it's smoother, it's not as smooth as the good old video stabilizer makes it seem. 😁

I would say this coaster is worthy of a retrack. It would save the park money and with smooth transitions this layout is actually superior to what is being offered by other companies for the same sized ride.

Maybe your first coaster should be American Scream Machine, but this one or the Riddler Mindbender coaster would be a good option too if you wanna be brave!
