I found this by accident- this is such a cool show.I'm American- I appreciate all international shows- we tend to glamourize everything. Its refreshing even if it's outdated- thanks for sharing :)

@Jamie lol- at this point I'd say 75% of what I watch, listen, or read is from across the pond I have subscriptions to Britbox and Acorn, but I'm so lucky to find a lot on KZfaq and Amazon prime carry a lot of British, Irish, Scottish stuff, most of our American stuff is so fake with every character being one dimensional, too predictable and not in the least realistic. BBC writers are a thousand times better- or maybe it's the Hollywood executives that take out all the realistic stuff in scripts so that it will sell then it ruins the writer's original intent- whatever the case- I'm glad it doesn't happen that much over there - although I did find that show 'Vexed' looked like something that an American would produce I watched one episode and that was it. That's about the only disappointment I've had with UK tv- I'd say that's a great track record

Yeh they should have thought a little more about it , instead of killing off maggie they should have got PJ and her to marry ( everyone back then wanted a wedding) she gets transferred to St Davids and appeared on the show on and off and then killed her off . Jo should not have been in relation with PJ that was a ridiculous story line. They shouldn't have blown up the station moving it, it became more clinical instead of country cops and killing Tom's wife changing up Toms character didn't work- him having a wife made sense, but having his first wife dying then his second two much. There was a lot of killing off characters and it became too much people want so good stuff for the characters But from season 8-13 there were some good story lines and episodes you just have to sift them out.

so am I, my father was a cop and I thought I knew something of police procedures and the law and all that. 'Attention son' summyboy at twelve does it but old dad says 'full circle.' he did general duties, ferenzics, did a course in bomb disposal my neighbours hate cops but fuck em they don't get it. If they're really up to no good then the cops can body search them. Good acting in this show. Oh yeah Campbelltown cop shop, Liverpool cop shop and was there Ingleburn police station, NO SUNNY BOY in 94 he took me to the open day as Ingleburn didn't have a cop shop. I used to walk past a cop shop pin Kogarah every day and think, crikey that was where my brother did work experience. On ya police men and wimmen, I will not say anything bad about police nor hear any bad reports. Back to the show. Damb they'd never recruit me but that's that, that's life;. It's stupid to expect everybody to understand. B.T.W. Old dad didn't get to fire the glocks, he just got to blow stuff up safely, right dad. 'no sun, it was just a course.'

Anyone from overseas (I’m Aussie) that has watched this? If so, did you like it?FOR THE AUSSIES PLEASE DON’T PUT SPOILERS IN….AT LEAST WRITE *SPOILER ALERT* So that if overseas watchers or even first-timers here watch all 14 seasons, we don’t want to wreck it for them! My thoughts, very similar to many people’s on here. I think this was the best series Australia ever made, along with probably All Saints. That’s really hard to find the first five seasons of all Saints on DVD but after that people charging three or $400 for season six and beyond which is kinda weird because I think All Saints was good all alone, I also think the first five seasons were the best.

In terms of policing and general ethics? If so, yeah - I'm about halfway through this episode and the attitude towards the new cop would get you suspended at a lot of departments here in the states nowadays. I've read Australia had some pretty serious issues with police misconduct around when this was made. Not to say the US was any better at all but it's good to hear things have improved.

Episode 1.01 Tue, January 18, 1994 Screenplay by Tony Morphett Directed by Mark Callan New constable Maggie Doyle arrives in Mt. Thomas. She is faced with not only rampant chauvinism but the fact that she will be stationed with her ex-boyfriend, Constable Wayne Patterson, who has recently moved there with his wife Roz. On her first night in town, Maggie encounters local girl Sally-Anne after she is raped by her boyfriend, Bruce Maclean. Sally-Anne makes a formal complaint but after Bruce pressures her, she attempts to withdraw it. When she discovers that this isn't possible, Sally-Anne tries to commit suicide but is found by Maggie and Nick who are able to revive her. Tom sends Maggie and Wayne out to speak to farmer Mick Doherty about his parking fines. When Mick's dog breaks free from its chain, Maggie is forced to shoot it to protect Wayne prompting Mick to start firing back at them. To make amends, Tom is forced to go out and have a yarn with Mick, and with the help of PJ, gets Mick a new dog. Starring: Grant Bowler, Ann Burbrook, Lisa McCune, William McInnes, Martin Sacks, Julie Nihill, John Wood FROM:The Australian Television Information Archive, a great site! Filled with info on Blue Heelers and all other Aussie TV series. I have nothing to do with them, I just want fellow enthusiasts to take advantage of a wonderful resource.

The Title already has me suspicious there will be no woman-bashing and tons of male-bashing in this series. Thank you to our host for posting this series.
@jerseymike794610 ай бұрын
I don't think you meant you want "woman-bashing"? Maggie - 1st female cop in a family of cops - represents changing times. Traditional Australian society was a little backwards embracing equality for women, the countryside more so what with the Ocker element. That's why Maggie and some of the other females are sometimes referred to as "girlie" by older men, to put them in their place. This was a quarter century ago after all. Ask your mom about how in her own lifetime she was given a ration of crap by men, from not being taken seriously to getting groped by slob bosses who felt entitled to. It still goes on, ask your wife or sister, women still make less doing the same job as men in many professions. Wouldn't you be better off if your wife got the same money as the man working next to her?
@capie4410 ай бұрын
@@jerseymike7946 correct. *I* was not referring to the woman-bashing toward women, I was referring the bashing *from* women. No where in media, education, religion, and/or government is there taught the difference between natural oppression (each of us required to eat each other) and mandated oppression (cannibalism.) Being human does not forfiet one from natural oppression. I have lived on 3 continents and visited 6 more Countries beyond the three. I give your reply an "Excellent" rating for balanced, informative and responsible teaching (without bashing.) 👍👍👍

So, the Sergeant chastises the rookies for getting shot at, as if they were at fault, and then doesn't charge the man for anything? Unless it was really like that in rural Australia back then, that's just ridiculous. Is the rest of the series generally realistic or completely outlandish?
