Today on Booze On The Rocks I show you to make a Blue Lady. This cocktail dates back to the 1937 edition of the Cafe Royal Cocktail Book. Where it was created by Victor. This is one of those great blue curacao cocktails that is well balanced and easy to make. Give it a try and

BLUE LADY
1 oz/30 ml Dry Gin
1.5 oz/45 ml Blue Curacao
.75 oz/22.5 ml Lemon Juice
1 Egg White
Method
1. Add all ingredients to the shaker tin.
2. Shake without ice for 10-15 seconds hard.
3. Shake with ice for 10-15 seconds hard.
3. Fine strain into a coupe glass.
4. Garnish with a desiccated orange wheel.

I love the Blue Lady. I use a little rich simple syrup to help balance it. Try it with an orange regal shake. It takes the Orange to the next level. I think that's what this drink is about.

Thanks a lot for the recipe. I’ve actually made it today and it looked really good. I think I went a little bit over the to with the gin and I will have to find something to balance the taste onto the sweeter note for my gf. But thanks again !

Your welcome. Try add some simple syrup. You can adjust it a little at a time to get the sweetness that she would like.

I made a Blue Lady last week, but this recipe looks better than the one I used. The only difference was the one I made had bar syrup in it, bit it was too sweet. So, I'm thinking this version is going to be a lot better!

What type of Bar Syrup were you using? Was it a 1:1 or a 2:1?

For Blue Curacao I just know Bols and Monin. I've never seen McGuinness that brand.

They are pretty much interchangeable. The McGuiness is hit and miss depending on where you live.

For this you have to shake it hard and fast or else it does not want to foam up.

It is a dehydrated orange slice. You can make them in a dehydrator or in the oven/toaster oven. Or you can buy some from a cocktail supply store or on amazon here amzn.to/32jmUwy

Have you heard about Blue Love lady? It is mixed with smirnoff vodka, blue curacao and batida de coco and pineapple juice, but i cant find anything on the internet how much of each drink i have to put in

That is a good Question. I love blue cocktails. It all depends on you personla tastes. But if a cocktail has orange liqueur and the colours are light enough test it with some Blue Curacao asa substitte and see how it turns out.

You can definitely use egg white. I used the entire white of a large egg so .75 oz/22.5 ml. That will work really nicely.

Kaleb, you could use blueberry schnapps but you might need to play around with the lemon juice ratio to get it right. because of the sweetness in the Schnapps. I would love to do a colab with Greg one day.
