Bill was a master of his own craft. He is an icon in bluegrass music, as well as American music as a whole. This was towards the end of his life, and his voice while frail, still holds the power and poise he always had. Two of his best songs without a doubt. So glad this exists. Rest In Peace Mr Monroe

I have always loved Bill Monroe and Blue Grass and I have loved Emmylou Harris from the first time I saw her! She is my favorite. I got my love of Blue Grass from my patent's. They would play it on the radio when we were going to and back from My Grandma's and Grandaddy's farm in the country in Virginia! Great times! ❤️

In the 60's Bill and his Bluegrass Boys would perform at our old county fair at a stage right by our cattle livestock barns. He was my dad's music hero. Dad never cared for the fair or the midway but would come out to see Bill, then go home. Dad played the mandolin or his big Gibson with Black Diamond strings on the front porch. He could have easily been a"blue grass boy".

Bill Monroe's earliest-known performance of "Blue Moon of Kentucky" was on the Grand Ole Opry broadcast of August 25, 1945. The next year he recorded it with the Bluegrass Boys when Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs were members.
