This is SO cool! Blue Thunder is one of my favorite movies of the 80s! The attention to detail, particularly with the pilot manipulating the controls (including the cannon following his head movements, just like the movie!) is just extraordinary. The only thing that could make it better is if the pilot actually looked like Roy Scheider! Incredible build, really beautiful work.

hey krumrick2 i think you might find this interesting, i worked with the gentleman that help design this helicopter for the movie and actually have picture of him on set with the helicopter. it was a very interesting story as this man is a very fascinating person in deed, regretably he retired a few years ago and we still miss him very much.

I wonder if there has ever been a Roy Schieder 1/6th scale head made (possibly for reasons of Jaws) that would be a useful thing to have I would guess.

When ever I see an RC Blue Thunder I always wonder is it technically feasible to partially mute the rotor and engine noise like the real one could do (and the actually Comanche Helicopter could do as well) to give it a real "Whisper Mode". I also often wonder the secondary baffles on the side of the turbine - could they be used for such - or used perhaps to put anti-noise speakers in ? Lastly I wonder is it actually technically feasible to put real directional microphones in the roof - and not have them get drowned out by the rotor noise ? That sort of stuff always make me curious.

amazing build great mechanical details. you may want to use more detailed pilot figures though to complement the detailed fuselage. there are lots of incredably detailed 1/6 figures (pilots, soldiers, militaries etc) available in Hong Kong, i am happy to source and ship to you if you want (i am not going to make money from it but simply want to help as a fellow model builder highly impressed with your work). cheers

The shade of blue used to WAAAAAAAAAAAY off, other than that, pretty funky, but I would re-paint it myself.
