Code Geass has a complex and intricate plot, with a rich backstory and subtle connections between almost every major player which almost all come back to be significant at some point. So rather than try to explain all of that while still being funny, Purpleeyes just said "Eh fuck it" and did his own thing. And it is glorious.

i come back here like once every couple of months to rewatch this series because the song inserts are everything. to this day i’ve also never seen an episode of code geass but i’m convinced that i probably wouldn’t enjoy it because this is way more fun.
