honestly? the original mod isn't that bad. i may not like it personally, but at least the developer put in the time and effort to actually make it unique. particularly with Week 6 which gives some Doki Doki Literature Club vibes, and i love me some DDLC. but the community? hell naw. those are the most piss-poor content out there. they don't put in the effort to make their own songs, remap the charts or anything. they just replace boyfriend and girlfriend's sprites with the evil versions, and use MS paint to change all the mod sprites. lazy, lazy, lazy.

And we all know what happens with those kinds of creepypastas. But the amount of effort and energy put into the original mod? it's not something to be scoffed at. i can respect the amount of dedication put into that mod. but the fandom of it? gah... it's literally just recoloring modded sprites black and pink. i've done some digging, it really isn't that hard. if a schmuck like me can do it, of course others are going to profit like crazy off of this. it's literally stealing other people's hard work. it's like a reaction video.

I wish the gameplay with the monster fit the scary and unexpected atmosphere, right now it's way easier than the previous songs with no special mechanics. I think something like having easy patterns but a huge penalty for missing a note or doing something like with Omega Flowey where it starts off seeming really hard, but as it goes, you realize it's not nearly as bad as you thought, and the game helps you out a lot. I just feel like something like this would bring this from just something kinda weird and unexpected, to a truly immersive twist. Using gameplay for atmosphere can do a lot, and I'm sad the devs didn't play into that, but who knows, they can always change these things later.
