The Mercury/SeaVee Pompano Beach Saltwater Showdown is the final leg in the Pompano Beach Saltwater Circuit. Held every year in August, the strategy for most teams is to catch four quality kings first. The goal is typically 80 to 100 pounds in the combined weight of their four kings. If they meet their goal, the next step it to go looking for that 'bonus' fish which typically in the month of August is going to be a blackfin tuna or wahoo. We rode along with Captain Art Sapp and team Native Son for the 2021 Showdown. They implemented a variety of techniques from flying kites with helium to slow trolling with down riggers and found some quality fish.
