Planer Fishing with Artificial Bait Strips

Planer fishing is a very effective way to target a number of different pelagics like kingfish, tuna and wahoo. One of the most popular baits for trolling flat lines and planers are bonito strips. In this video we hook up with Elliot London, a 17-year old senior in high school who has made a name for himself with an ingenious artificial Mylar type strip that looks and fishes like the real thing!

Great vid but when was this filmed because i was hooking up constantly a month ago and now i can't seem to land more than 1 or 2 fish, and also you straight out of hillsboro correct?

We filmed this trip a couple weeks ago. We were out on Sunday trolling strips as well and it was pretty slow as well. That’s more about conditions than it is about bait. And yes, we were out of Hillsboro

Were you only fishing the planer on the heaviest rod?

We were fishing two planer rods and yes they were on the heavier rods. 50 lb class rods with Shimano Tiagra 50 Reels.

Instruction Rigging: hook size line weights knot types length of trolling line speedz, depths what number of plainer are you using, Fish finder tricks., fish sign, standard instructions for the complete idiot. We know what a caught fish looks like. Its great you have skills share the knowledge.
