I was never the kid who had these kinds of friends, but once and only once me and some of the guys from HS went up the mountain overlooking the city during the night of a big windstorm. Nobody else was out. All the businesses were closed, and the sky, the wind, it was haunting and strange. We looked out over the city, silent, quiet, and alive with lights. Listening as the wind roared in our ears as it danced across a cloudless sky. This calls me back to that night. When the wind was so strong you had to fight against it. When everything was so loud- roaring with fury- and yet silent. When the city grew still even as it sparkled. A past that we can never go back to. A future we could never dream of. The cosmos. Infinite and bright.
