About Blur:
About Blur: Blur were formed in 1989 by Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon, Alex James and Dave Rowntree and signed with Food/EMI the same year. Announcing their arrival with debut album Leisure in 1991, Blur continued to revolutionise the sound of English popular music with second release Modern Life Is Rubbish (1993). Seven successive UK #1 albums followed - with Parklife (1994) and The Great Escape (1995) helping to propel the band to mass popularity in the UK and beyond. The eponymous Blur was released in 1997 and seventh album Think Tank (2003) was Blur’s first as a three-piece after the temporary departure of founding guitarist Graham Coxon.
Twenty one years after the release of their debut album, 2012 saw Blur 21: The Box, the band's body of work compiled and gathered together into one box. Their most recent release as a four-piece, is the critically acclaimed chart-topping album The Ballad of Darren (2023).

I love how low-key unhinged this music video is. One of my favorite things about Blur's early work is their chaotic energy that sometimes bordered on unhinged. They were never afraid of being super weird.

I discovered this band late..I could I've been into this band from the start of their career.. Damon is only 3 years older then me. His birthday is only 2 days after mine 3/23/1968.. He was born the year of the "Gorilla" the same with his friend that started the "Gorillaz" I'm a die hard fan of Blur, Gorillaz and Damon Albarns solo album.. Also I love his other project band "The Good, Bad and the queen"

The song, the style, the band were all so awesome and new at that time that most people didn't understand it and it never became a hit, despite of the musical greatness and originality. It took them two years to realise the brilliance and importance of Blur.

Blur said they never liked grunge and that Song 2 was making fun of it, but I mean look at the way they're dressed in this (especially Damon) and the lyrics! This song to me sounds pretty grunge , and it's from their earlier years.

This is definitely not grunge, you must be twelve or something, people dressed like that in the 90s, plus the lyrics are about Damon's life experiences I guess and we're talking about the silliness and disillusionment of the "popscene". So a more moody vibe was required, it's not just a Barr chord repeated over and over again and some bullshit lyrics like nirvana OT some crap. It's blur at their best.

+Fokken Prawn Firstly I'm not 12, secondly Blur are my favourite band, thirdly yes I know how people dressed like that in the 90s (the majority of the music I listen to is from the 90s and I grew up watching 90s tv) and finally I also listen to a lot of grunge music so I know what the sound and lyrics are like. That's why I said it sounds more like a grunge song (even though it isn't) especially the lyrics, even Nirvana's lyrics are not just nonsense they do have meaning as with popscene.

Popscenes lyrics are comments on society that make people think and evaluate their own beliefs, Nirvana is the deluded thoughts of a druggie, also I hate nirvana and grunge. You don't have to explain the meaning of the song to me because I already know, as I already said they're my favourite band of course I would know the meaning of it, it's quite obvious actually. Anyway if you listened to typical grunge bands and get into them like I did you would know they have meaning. Not saying you should listen to Nirvana, the only reason you don't agree with me is because you don't listen to both genres, if you did then you would be able to see the correlation that I'm trying to explain.

They didn't make them like this, either, in March 1992 when this came out; it got bagged on by critics and barely sold anything. Ahead of its time.

@@SWalkerTTU It wasn't really ahead of it's time. It was influenced by 80's bands like The Pixies. Blur were just looking for their identity in the early 90's. There's No Other Way was a copy of the Manchester sound.

@@lucasm3879 thats the thing, they did find their identity, and quite quickly Theres No Other Way is a Blur song and, well, sounds like one, it for sure is madchester-style, but if a person would have a first listen to that, he/she wouldnt really think that Stone Roses or whoever wrote it Blur really is unique and sounds as fresh as that bunch of pretty boys are still relevant and have teenage girls drooling over them after all these years

@@mishanya9495 To me there were better bands in the 90's, Blur always case across as a very smug, middle class band pretending they weren't as posh as they really were, with the whole mockney Parklife thing. You just said it yourself, they had teenage girls as their number one fan demographic. I know they did some good songs but they really weren't that great imo. Even when Damon started Gorillaz, yes he was doing something more interesting, but the likes of Massive Attack were doing it 10 years earlier, when Blur were starting out.

@@lucasm3879 yeah i sorta agree with you While they were stylish and unique in a way, vast majority(if not 98-99%) either liked blur(only their hits, and i fall into that category) or loved blur as a bunch of pretty boys, a few really loved their music, because, well, the discography is not that crazy good tbh
