The crowd has been dead at Coachella for the past 10+ years. It's now full of social media influencers and clout-seekers going for photo ops and to get media content just to show they were there. They don't give a shit about music. I seriously don't know why any successful band would want to play there, or why so many legendary bands choose to have their reunions there. The hype is always so big and then the actual show is always disappointing because the crowd seems confused and uninterested.

I’m not surprised they didn’t get a good reception, it’s completely the wrong crowd for them. The US never really got Blur except for Song 2 and that was 25+ years ago…

Tbh it's Los Angeles/Southern California crowds. If they had performed in most other cities it would have been fine but music crowds in LA are notoriously awful. I say that as someone from LA.

Not gonna lie... i love Albarn, but that was so diva of him 😂. Unfortunately im very sure the young crowd would not mind at all. They wanted THEIR favorite artists of THEIR generation. Like doja cat, tyler, or young sleazy or whatever rap name is famous rn.

Glad Damon did second night at Wembley. Him and I had a moment during Tracy Jacks I’ll never forget. Hopefully he doesn’t forget either . Travelled all the way from East Coast Canada would have been devastated if he cancelled

Been a Blur fan since the tail end of 1991. They've had such a daft career, ups and downs throughout, but they've come out the other end still making great music and liking each other. Loved Alex's line, the very idea he could have drank more champagne or shagged any more than he did is preposterous. That Coachella were absolutely dogshite, but they still enjoyed themselves. Nice.

@@jartober Both are bands formed around the same time that had significant periods of hiatus. That's why I think the comparison is not that farfetched. However, the crowd usually reflects and amplifies the energy that the artists put in. At Coachella No doubt were sparkling and vibrant, while Blur were dull and boring. And I grew up listening to Blur, so I'm not a hater.

Everyone might not know blur but a lot of people know who damon is. I think its an issue of the generational divide more than anything. If it were gorillaz, it would be a different story. But even then. Blurs fanbase is in the 30-50 age range. Most people at those ages dont have the time for coachella specifically. Coachella is for literal rich children.

I guess the same dead crowd happened for the Stone Roses. I chalk it up to changing times. For me Blur and the Roses are legends, but to todays US youth, maybe not so much. Shame really.

I know US crowds are known for being pretty bad but in fairness, with the exception of this song, do they really know Blur? Seems like a strange booking to me, Gorillaz yes but not Blur. Although the crowd wasn’t good for Gorillaz last time either was it 😂

Coachella must be the absolute worst festival to play. A crowd whose primary interest is showing everyone they’re at Coachella, and if they care about seeing an artist it’s entirely because they’re Current Hip Artist.. and they just want to show everyone they’re watching them. Being an older artist playing it must be absolutely spirit-crushing. You could put on the best show of your entire career and everyone would be staring at their phones.

The girl interviewing them is trying so hard to engage but it's almost a lost cause - Damon & Alex look and sound like a couple of tired, jaded 56 year-olds, cajoled into doing a gig that they probably already know isn't going to get a great reception, because Coachella is full of Tik Tok kids who don't give two shits about Britpop. And I don't mean that as a criticism, I would probably behave the same way if I was in their shoes. It's absolutely the wrongs kind of festival for them in every way and they know it.

I'm in my 20s and love Blur! IT's just a mater of having good or bad taste, age doesn't matter, as I also love music from the 60s. 70s, 80s and 90s. The crowd and this generation is just overall disrespectful and has awful taste because they were just as trashy with Gorillaz last year and Gorillaz isn't ''boomer'' music.
