Its not that hard to do reorganization of your collection. Just don't buy everything under the sun and only buy what you actually want to own. And that means don't buy every single new release every week. And go through your collection and pull out titles that wear one and done watch. And get rid of them to make space for future releases

Packaging style (box, steel, slip, standard) -> Label/studio -> format (4K then Blu) -> alphabetical or spine number depending. That’s how I organize in that order. It’s a really clean aesthetically pleasing way to organize imo and it really emphasizes the different studio and label output.

Finally! Ideally I'd have all Atlantic shelving and all the movie posters I love. One day, one day... right now u have everything from theatrical release order. Steels are separate and collectors edition. Also the lack of stranger things 3 and 4 at Target bothers me to no end...

That was fun and interesting. I'd probably have some separate sections, like Monsterverse. Sorting alphabetically makes sense, though I would employ ignoring articles (a, an, the), and maybe conjunctions (and or &), but keep prepositions (for, in, of), like 'In The Mood for Love' filed under 'I' and 'For a Few Dollars More' under 'F'. It doesn't look like you have the room, but including selected/favourite same/similar height box sets, and/or special editions 'wide facing' showing off the artwork, that fit in your shelves in-between those spine facing could look good. It's one of those tasks that starts out fun and then becomes, when am I going to finish this... 🤪

I think organizing by genre is way better than alphabetical.

I do mine by genre, but even then reorganizing is tough, I consider Disney it’s own genre and I’m working on those shelves by themselves which is a mess just for that

I admire that you can keep up with a system so intricate. If it works for you then ignore the criticism. I have a Sony that I bought in 2008 and it still plays well like your plasma.I couldn't part with it either. No matter what. It was also my first flat screen.

Looking good Ken, you are way more organized than me! I do like you and keep my dvd's because they haven't got a bluray/4k release and still watch them from time to time, the Hitcher comes to mind. I Have an app for my collection it's called my movies pro and it helps with some organizations of all the movies you own, you just scan them from your camera, it has some other features to. As always keep up the great work!

I am with you Ken, I sort alphabetically. Just simpler to find the movie by going to the letter rather than thinking about what studio put it out, what spine number, release date order, genre, with or without slip, etc. I do leave gaps for 2-4 blu-rays on each shelf so when I buy something new its is quicker/easier to file.

I enter the physical location of all my movies into my DB software this way it gives me complete freedom to organize them by any concept I want but still always locate them instantly, but youre lucky Ken to have so much space

Awesome progress in that closet, Ken. The before video was scary in there and now it looks very nice. The progress in the room is going slower than I expected, because you sounded so enthusiastic about finishing it, when you took your week hiatus from YT. I struggle with my collection and it's probably a tenth the size of yours, so I understand.

I organized my movies by label then genre or type of movie, and some by the director, Example Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez have their own area, same with Stanley Kubrick might be weird for some, but it makes it easier for me.

Right now I've got my collection mostly in boxes newer stuff under the coffee table and on our entertainment center. When I did have my stuff on shelving, I used to put horror in its own section, and Hitchcock had his own section, as well as Bond films. Everything else was alphabetical. I've never organized by label.

This kind of stuff is p(o)rn to me. Boutiques alpha numerically (88,101, Arrow, Scream, Severin, Synapse etc) then by release number within each label. Then I pull out the slip covers and put them at the end by release order, then steel books numerically, then box sets then large box editions. After that 4k, standard releases, slips, steels, sets, large boxes. After that studios alphabetically and following the same rules.

do you get rid of stuff when you upgrade, like dvd to blu or blu to 4k? I tend to do that unless there is a cool packaging or special features that isn't on the other format so I can make room for more... got love thrifting for that thrill of the hunt and the joy when you find something bad @$$ out in the wild

All that empty space on those shelves is where Michelle unloaded a bunch of Ken's collection to the thrift store while Ken was at Walmarts hunting $5 steelbooks.

Have to say this whats the damn point in sorting it by company, what happens if you want to see something but cant remember what label its on, i would suggest putting them in alphabetical order, then you can find it.
