The first 18 years of my life just played out before me - Where I was born (never lived there but lots of family lived there), dentist and doctors, churches where family members were wed and remembered when they passed, places I used to play, the proper old Blyth market, my dad's old house, my first girlfriend's grandads house(!), where I had my 6th form leaving do, where I bought my first car, the old power station (where I passed my aptitude tests to start the career in Aug-89 and I've still got!), Blyth park, the south beach, the sluice. Nice, thanks.

Thanks for this. In the early 80s my parents lived in Whitley Bay and I lived in South Beach, Blyth. Funny how memories get filed away for years, but never erased. Oh for the days when car parks were free and speed cameras still a thing of the future.

This is priceless, just a shame the camera wasn't facing a bit more forwards then could've seen a bit of both sides of the road. Still mint tho.

Great bit of nostalgia. I remember so many of the buildings that’s in the video that no longer exists

Brilliant. I would have loved to have seen more. I didn't think the Fire Station building and tower on Cowpen Road was so old... I still think it looks so modern and stylish. Thanks again.

Born in blyth in 1980. It was probably around 89-90 the family moved to Morpeth. Nostalgic memories here for sure.

I was brought up in Cowpen and noticed the old Town Tailors factory was still there in the vid 12:02 - it's an Aldi now. I thought it would have been long gone by 1989. It closed down in the mid 60s and I had some great (and probably dangerous) fun in it and on it as a kid!

I believe that it was used as a furniture factory after that called "UBU".

Not one driving school car wow!,that must be a record for Blyth as the town is crawling with them.

they may not have had the flashy graphics or cringeworthy names of today but i can certainly remember school of motoring cars with signs fixed to the roof and magnetic door signs in the 70s and 80s

Are you related to Steven Tosney? If so, I trained with Steven (working for the CEGB) and if you're his dad you used to pick me up and take us to get the train in Newcastle every other week.

Back when Blyth wasn't a drug-filled, teenage pregnant pit of despair and degredation. I would so love a time machine, then I might like to live in this town.
