Good stuff!! Yes, learning any language requires: * frequency (marathon not a sprint) * diligence as Daryl emphasized * LOTS of repetition of same words again and again. Initial exposure, move on, come back and revisit, move on... again and again. Seeing them used in context (sentences). I have found investing in a Dry Erase board and dry erase markers to be VERY useful. Also install the Polytonic Greek keyboard on your computer and practice writing sentences with the words. Dont worry if they are grammatically perfect, you can sort that out over time. As the old saying goes "it is easier to steer a moving boat" and the learning process is in many ways like painting a purple wall with white paint. You will paint a coat, let it dry. Then paint another and let it dry. Then another, until the wall is white without a hint of purple. Endurance, consistency, and repetition are key.

Great chat, some really useful comments. All I can say to those of you who are thinking about learning NT Greek, and are wondering if you should join the MNTG community, well, I have managed to complete 16 Chapters of Mounce (an intro to Biblical Greek) in just over 2 months. This would not have been possible without the help of the MNTG community and the lecture series Darrly has developed.

You know, I teach children music and I'm used to teaching them to sound things out. I'm in the older crowd who typically don't benefit from Geek as much in your view but I'm loving every minute of this. I challenge how you think about other people because we have the time and we love the process. This is one of the most fun things I've ever done. I highly recommend this for older people. We have the patience other people lack.

I very much learn by reading, viewing and listening to others on my own. In that domain self accountability is a huge key for achieving the desire goal. For example: It took me seven years of intense training to achieve black belt in karate. I kept a year at a glance calendar on the wall and used several different highlighters to indicate what I did each day, 365 days a year. One color for studying, one for practicing and one for spending time teaching or communicating with about the subject matter. If you can teach it then it's more likely you know it well and by teaching the subject it gets more ingrained.

When I began studying Greek, I was so anxious about keeping up with the pace of instruction that I failed to review properly. Reviewing certainly decreases the "fog." Writing the paradigms repeatedly helps tremendously.

What do you suggest reading if someone has not arrived at the point where he knows enough Greek to read the Greek New Testament?

Hi Daryl I enjoyed the tips that you offered. Your video went from practically no adverts to 6. I do not believe you have any control over this, but KZfaq is doing you a disservice by having so many in your 20-minute video. I hope they reconsider.

Sure! It doesn’t properly translate the nominative predicate as it should be translated.
