This a new colored pencil drawing technique that every portrait artists especially beginners because this is not the typical burnishing technique, it is a totally different approach to draw using prismacolor premier colored pencil. Thank you so much for that information. I found it extremely helpful. I'm sure you can still add more layers if needed even after you've put that final layer on. I have been commissioned to do a portrait so this technique is extremely helpful because I plan to do it on vellum as well. Thank you. Just on a different topic I don't think you need music in the background when you're talking as well. I found that a distraction and took away the clarity of your voice. Hope you don't mind me saying that.

Nice, thanks for sharing. Very useful. In essence you are painting the last layer to fill the tooth. I've used Gamsol to break the waxes down for blending and when it dries the wax reforms. It seems to work well but I have seen some wax bloom. I'll have to try your technique for the finer work. I have actually tried the makeup brushes on pastels and they work well there when you have very small amounts of pastel/chalk pigment to move. Problem with pastel chalk is that it doesn't stay in place like coloured pencils/crayons. I prefer crayons for fine detail work for sure and Prisma color are excellent pencils.

Very nice demo. You do really nice work. However, I must say that to do an entire portrait (rest of the face) with the amount of time spent solely around the eyes alone, as in this video's technique, could be an extraordinarily slow process. And BTW I'm not advocating speeding through a work of art. I just think the quality in color, value, and rendering could still be achieved, less laboriously, by using a bit smoother grade of paper (surface). I also think the quality in layering and blending to the degree you have it here would not be sacrificed. Again though, you do lovely work and explain it quite thoroughly. Keep posting. Thanks.

You can get a much better finish with Odourless Solvents and your blending stump, plus you can layer more layers as the solvent gets rid of the wax especially Prismacolor pencils.
