@@xhantTheFirst That line of Zephyrs means that he doesn't fulfill all wishes like a regular genie would. He sees the wishes as suggestions and is very willing to offer alternatives, sometimes it doesn't quite work out and he isn't really bothered by it.

Yes, I was going to comment pretty much the same thing. If he wanted Shadowflame, he would have needed to be able to damage the other minions first. Considering the taunt minion - that wasn't going to happen. For the most part, Zephrys always assumes you are going to play his card immediately and doesn't really look beyond the immediate impact of the card. Since Shadowflame wasn't going to come close to killing the board on it's own (particularly the 8/8), no Shadowflame was offered. Kibler has played Zephrys quite a bit so I'm surprised he didn't realize it wouldn't be offered.

Betrayal gave him exactly the same result as shadowflame would did, but cheaper. So maybe this could be reason why

@@mr_sugarcube Even if he didn't boomer APM his way through the rest of the turn and miss his attacks, Alex would've lived after Betrayal, but not Shadowflame. He had 6 attack (2 3/3s) for Alex's 8 hp. Shadowflame the 5/2 would've left a 4/1 and an 8/3 on the opponents board, which would've allowed Kibler to full clear with his 2 3/3s. Not the same result

That's only true if he hadn't already attacked with the 5/6 minion...Zephrys only looks at the immediate impact of the spell...it really only considers future attacks for purposes of determining possible lethal.

It doesnt work like that, it cant read your mind, it looks at the taunt and goes you cant trade; there is a taunt.

Yes, he knows the guy already attacked. If you attack with everything and then Zephrys, he won't give you a Bloodlust, for example, even if that would have been lethal had you played Zephrys first. But Zephrys only really looks at the immediate impact of the card he gives you. The only way future attacks really matter to Zephrys is when it is considering whether or not you have lethal.

​@@ericbess5917 The thing that is confusing is: Betrayal was only better than Shadowflame if Kibler hadn't attacked already, allowing him to trade the 5 dmg into the big thing. Zeph offering Betrayal "after" Kibler had already attacked is clearly worse. But yeah, Zephrys doesn't look at anything but the immediate board state.

The prevailing logic in most card games is to make the play that gets you the closest to potentially winning the game, which is why he played the card that gave him the biggest bodies on board. Sure his opponent _might_ have burst damage that turn, but playing the water bearer to survive the burst only makes you survive that turn it doesn't get you any closer to killing your opponent.

@@Eon2641 i know, but a 5/5 body and an other minion i think is sure good enough to pose a treat, i play lot card game and i think in that case the best way to win is to survive and give pressure, bc after that turn the Water Bearer can heal again and again if his opponent don't use some removal to kill it

Not gonna say anything about chance but that wasn't poor programming. Zephrys was actually smarter offering betrayal which did the same thing shadowflame did for 2 mana cheaper. It's just that kibler needed to not trade before using him.

I'm glad I'm not the only one wondering why he didn't do this against a mage when he has less than 10 health left...

Eric Bess Maybe he was hoping for Nozari or Classic Alex, I guess, but definitely not my first choice to gamble for that with so little health tho. Could’ve just played that, healed for 5, and then played Alex next turn.

I'm really not sure why Mindrender Illusia is even necessary to this deck. Yes, if you are playing against some combo deck, you turn a loss into a win, but against just about everything else, my experience has been that the best use of Illusia is just to take up space in your hand and never play her. I've seen her hit something excellent and win the game, but probably less often than I've seen her hand the game to the opponent.

@@ericbess5917 From my perspective her only role is to disrupt the opponent, sure it can break otk mage or druid KT combo but mainly it removes core cards if possible from the opponent thus weakening them very much, she is rarely used but when it is, it does some amazing stuff.

Shadowflame would literally clear all enemy minions meanwhile betrayal left an 8/8 when he was at 11 health. You really need to watch this game again bud.

@@EebstertheGreat "Strictly better" means something that simply doesn't apply here. For example, Pen Flinger is strictly better than Elven Archer because it does everything exactly the same way Archer does, but has a secondary effect. It could be argued that if the Pen Flinger gets stolen, that's worse than Archer, but that's stretching it. So Betrayal is certainly not "strictly better" because there are plenty of scenarios I would want one over the other and it's not always the same one. However, even if you are simply saying, "in this situation", I'm not sure exactly why you say that. Both require trading all of your minions to clear the board and leave you with a 3/4. I guess you could argue that Betrayal gives you the option of only trading one of your minions for 2 of his and then 8 damage to face, while Shadowflame only trades 1 for 1 immediately and gives the option of trading or going face with the other 6 damage, but again - since it could be arguable which of those is better, use of the word "strictly" seems a bit much here. Regardless of all of this, Kibler had already attacked with the 5/6, so I'm not sure there is any play at that point where Betrayal is the better card. You cannot clear anymore. And Zephrys does know what has attacked and what hasn't as bloodlust interactions show.
