Bro, I could be totally wrong on this but I'm confident enough to type it. I'm pretty sure a hot shoe is one that communicates with the camera and a cold shoe is one that doesn't. The BMPCC doesn't have a hot shoe and it looks like the cage you're using doesn't either. Otherwise, great video.
@joenicklo

Definitely like the add-on/take-off option with the rail extensions. I went with Zacuto because the rods line up so much better and there's a direct connect versus using a "bridge" or adapter piece in between. Sometimes vibrations, especially from car mounts, can start to loosen things up.
@joenicklo
@joenicklo 3 жыл бұрын
You're right about the vibrations for sure. I'd like to move towards a unified baseplate system, such as the bright tangerine left field plates.

The big problem with any rig system is if you are the one pulling focus and not a 1st AC, then the focus wheel system is a nightmare given that you then only have ONE hand providing the main point of contact instead of being two hands. So other than a focus side handle, there really is no other way in that scenario at least.

Agreed, but if you're filming solo...what else can you do?

Hi lance glad you enjoyed the video. I listed two cables for two price points. I suggest the Atomos brand cable since it has the locking screw that will prevent it from accidentally coming unplugged. Hey Pierre, thanks for stopping by. Check the link in the description for the cable I use. I included the Atomos brand cable but I've also included a much cheaper alternative with the Alvin's cables version. This is a superb setup. Do you use the 14.8V on the P-Tap of the battery brick then straight to the 12V DC jack in the BMPCC4K? Or 8v from battery to a dummy battery? Last question; what’s safer for the camera - currently I am using a 14.8V P-Tap then straight to my BMPCC6K’s 12V DC jack (No LP-E6 batteries stuck inside the camera). The camera’s battery icon states that it’s receiving 15V. Will that damage the BMPCC 4K or 6K? Thanks!
@joenicklo
@joenicklo 4 жыл бұрын
I never use a dummy battery, I use the power port on the side of the camera and run into a D-Tap splitter, which is plugged into my V-Mount battery. I don't always use the splitter, but more often than not I do. Honestly, I don't know the answer to your second question! I think you should be ok but I'd email Blackmagic support.

500$ mattebox and using a 300$ Rokinon?! Get some glass dude...real glass!

Was waiting on this one. I film on a sigma 18-35mm. I was using it to film this video so it couldn’t be on the rig. Is that real enough or do I need a Cooke lens to justify the use of a matte box? ;)
