The drag coefficient on BMW vehicles is extremely low, I can't believe this 114 hp engine can go 210 and the 320d with 188 hp can do 250, it's incredible.

I had a guy with a 316d E90 who would not move back to the right, he saw I had a Clio and probably thought it's not much for his BMW. He probably didn't realise it's an RS Trophy until i overtook him :)).

liar. Rs Clio can be spotted from a mile, it has wider body. Btw, Clio RS 197 can't go over 215km/h which is pathetic. 320d would trash it on a highway with twice less consumption lol...

Yes, i was shifting a little late. Like you said its maximum power is at 4000rpm.

This is not correct. The torque usually peaks at 3000-4000 rpm in a diesel car, but the power usually peaks much later. If not it would be kind og meaningless for the engine to be able to go over 4000 rpm. Higher gearing would then be the "solution". When thats said, your point is still valid. When accelerating you want to keep the rpm as close to the torque-peak, of course until you hit the last gear, then you push it flat out to reach top speed. Note, in some cases the last gear is not for top speed, but for eco-driving, because the torque is not high enough.

Emilio you are not right. Max torque peak is between 1750-2500rpm. Max power is at 4000rpm. So it doesn't make any sense to drive above 4000rpm.

Actually, it does. My car has max power at 4000 rpm doesn't really drop off until after 4500 (at that rpm it's still making 150 bhp), but (measured) max torque is at 2900. If the drop in revs is more than those 1000 rpm, it might be beneficial to go there, to make sure you end up on/above the max torque rpm. Also, at higher rpm the turbo spins up faster. I barely ever go past 3000, but if I want to be quickest, I make sure I keep it between 3000 and 4500. Even though 2500-4000 feels faster, it isn't.

Für den Stadtverkehr völlig ausreichend. Für Überholmaneuver auf Landstraßen oder Autobahnfahrten definitiv zu untermotorisiert

Sorprende lo bien que va para ser un 1,6 l. de 115 CV y más teniendo el cuenta el peso de la carrocería. Sospecho que por lo menos tiene 10 Cv más...algo muy usual en los turbodiésel modernos...De todos modos, goza de una acústica muy refinada y da gusto subirlo de vueltas, por algo es un BMW y cuando le exiges, responde. Un coche muy agradable y que permite circular sin complejos por esas idílicas autobahn.....:)

Have tested the performance uphill and overtaking on country roads? I drive 80km to work every day and have to go uphill on a mountain road. Moreover the roads are narrow and filled with trucks. Will that be still ok?

Hm, for that kind of driving I'd rather go for the 318d. For overtaking trucks uphill I like to have as much power I could get. But still the 316d could be fine if you don't overtake or generally take it easy and don't rush.

ich habe mit meinem 210 geschafft, man merkt er könnte mehr ist aber abgeriegelt, kann ein chiptuning empfehlen leistungssteigerung auf 150 ps ist schon mal etwas, trozdem das Auto ist keine lahme Ente

sieht bei meinem genauso aus. hatte kurzzeitig nen chip drin aber leider konnte ich topspeed nicht testen weil er relativ schnell wieder draußen war, mir persönlich zu heiß die sache mit dem chip.

habe den 316d durch einen guten bekannten und dem softwareupdate und neuem Turbo Filter auf 184 PS erfolgreich. gebracht, er schafft 230 kmh. Er arbeitet bei BMW und hatte mir erklärt das die Motoren vom 316d 318d 320d alles 2.0 Liter Motoren sind und alle den selben Aufbau haben bis auf manche Kleinigkeiten, wie der Turbo und Filter, somit ist der 316d auf 116 PS gedrosselt, falls etwas passieren sollte ich habe eine Garantie abgeschlossen

Sry aber bei einem Diesel ist das nicht so.Wenn du einen Diesel zu hoch drehst kommt nach der Max. Drehmoment kurve bzw. PS Kurve nur noch "heiße Luft". Bei einem Benziner bin ich da schon eher deiner Meinung. Aber wenn ich meinen Diesel jedes mal bis zum Anschlag ausdrehen würde, geht da nichts mehr. Er fährt im 4ten Gang, 190 und hält das dann. Würde er mal weiter Schalten hätte er im 6ten Gang 210 km/h auf der Uhr. Der Motor kann das ( auch wenn er "nur" 116 PS hat).

Das stimmt mit dem 4. Gang, man sieht dann auch dass er bei ca. 190km/h nur im Begrenzer fährt und deswegen nichts mehr geht. Die heiße Luft beim Drehmoment ja, aber das PS-Maximum bringt doch die Vmax und das ist bei dem Motor bei 4.000rpm und die erreicht er im 5. Gang schneller als im 6. Gang

Mir geht es hier eig. um folgendes. Welcher Mensch fährt auf der Autobahn sein Auto im 5ten Gang Vollgas wenn er 6 Gänge hat? Welche Automatik Gangschaltung mit 6, 7 oder 8 Gängen fährt bei Vmax einen Gang unter dem Max. Gang? Richtig :D Keine einzige. Ich hätte mich einfach gefreut wenn man noch den 6ten Gang bei Vollgas gesehen hätte. Ich bin mir sicher das da noch mehr gegangen wäre. Und da es im Video heißt "Top Speed", darf man nicht einfach beim 5ten gang aufhören. Wäre schon interessant zu wissen ob er noch schneller gefahren wäre ;)Gruß

Doch recht viele, eine BMW 8-Gang Automatik verbleibt im Sportmodus gen Topspeed auch im 7. Gang. Autos mit um die ~120PS sind halt eher lang übersetzt (besonders der letzte), dadurch wird die Topspeed schon im vorletzten Gang erreicht. Im 6. Gang würde nur theoretisch, also im freien Fall/bergab mehr gehen, aber die 210km/h hätte er garantiert langsamer erreicht

I do, i bought a 2016 316d for 14k. A 320d with the same mileage costs around 20-22 here. So i just chipped it to 190pk and 400nm.

@@62Serhildan yes sure, i would put a stage 1 tune on it and you will get about 190hp. Its a 2L so won't have to worry about it in the long run.

+White Horse Like I earlier said this is the weakest engine in a 3-series. And it's a heavy car so of course the much lighter Toyota Corolla 1.4 can play.

BMW should be ashamed for detuning its engines like this, 316/318 etc... Regardless of the economics of the matter, it's embarrassing to have the BMW badge on a car this slow....
