have a 2004 BMW x3 2.5i 4d SUV is this required for this year and model?? And is it possible that this make your 4x4 light come on ?? I also did a transmission filter change and a oil change, oil filter change, Bosch spark plugs change, and also did a new facelift shift knob. Does all that have to be reset??and could any of that make the 4x4 light come on? And it's on when I start the VEHICLE but when I drive it turns off and 4x4 functions work.

hey Bud, that was good to show how to do the repair. BUT, using x2 worn gears that have completely different wear patterns (especially the one that was against the wiped out gear) is only putting off the inevitable. Either or both of those gears will fail again soon. Only replace with matching gears that are from the same unit or NEW gears will result in a proper repair.

Mine would vibrate sounding like drive line was coming trough console when o turned is this same problem or is it the actual transfer case.

The whole DSC Module of my x3 is not communicating . I have replaced it, yet no solution, fuses are fine too

Hello! I have a BMW f30 320xd, some time ago I received an error on board (Driving Stabilisation), the car now only enters comfort mode and I have traction only on the rear wheels, after some investigations I found the following codes: 48097D (Transmission box transfer - open clutch position, rear drive only) and 440101 end of transmission reached, I mention that the error appeared in the morning immediately after starting the engine. The car has no symptoms related to the transfer case, (ATC35L) it does not sputter or make strange noises. The tires are identical and match, the electrical fuses were checked, the new actuator was coded with ISTA, it worked without problems for 3 days, I tried a recalibration with ISTA but it no longer allows it, I have the old actuator open and it seems that the new models they no longer have gears, they are in an electromagnetic field, I also changed the oil, it was a little dark, brown The car is from 11.2013 and has 292000km, the first owner changed the entire transmission in 2016 under warranty in Germany I thought maybe the clutch in the VTG was worn out. If I change the clutch in the box, can the actuator be recalibrated, do they have to be replaced with a new one? I initially thought it was the actuator and replaced it, but the error reappeared after 3 days. Sincerely, Octavian!

06 BMW X3 with 178000 miles. I have the trio of lights since purchasing this vehicle 3 months ago. So far, I have replaced the trasfer actuator case gear via licensed mechanic. Then I DIY-replaced the ABS speed sensors and brake pad wear sensors all around the truck, with the exception of the rear right brake pad wear sensor. There's no connector in that spot and the lights are trying to reset, but comes back on after I drive a few miles. Any ideas?

I had my transfer case gasket replaced 6 months ago along with transmission flush. Now my 4x4 light is on. When I try to make a sharp turn the car seem to be slipping gear and shaking

2005 x3 2.5L my dsc doesn't show light when pushed and 4x4 light on dash stays on..no other light is on ? also no codes show either.

I own a 2007 BMW x3, the 4x4 warning light comes on together with the wheel sensor when I give it 4000 rpm, then when this warning light comes on the car shakes and turns hard, then when I stop and restart the car it disappears. What could it be? does the problem show no problem? could it be the ABS sensor? thank you

@@manuelmendoza5498 hello, I still haven't found a solution to the problem, at the moment it didn't light up, but if I turn it over 4000 revs it lights up instantly and the steering wheel turns hard.. according to the diagnosis everything is apparently ok, the mechanic told me when it lights up again I'm taking it to an auto electrician.

I got the same problem on my sisters 08 X5. From what I know there’s no code. It’ll just show up on you dash board as 4x4 and DSC malfunction.

@@joseesparza9757 same thing here, I had replaced the actuator motor coded the faulty dsc adjustment code and it still comes back up, the previous owner of my car had done a xdelete, I’m going too try too code xdelete back onto the vehicle and see if that works

@@schro3532 this happened issue happened after I replaced her battery because it was at low voltage. I found out it’s just a reset. Had to calibrate to steering wheel.

@@schro3532 also it wouldn’t pass smog so she paid about 4K at a smog place for them to fix it. The replaced the catalytic converters. It pass but the engine light still shows up. Something about coding? I’m lost??

wheel speed sensors, brake wear sensors, steering angle sensor. I've done the actuator gear and rear sensors and still have all the lights

2006 bmw 325xi owner here as well and my 4x4! And the 4x4 with a loop around it shows as well as the break lights and DSC I already changed the actuator for the transfer case and the abs sensors I actually had a messed up front differential so I fixed that as well and its still on do I just need to code them out

Mechanics did scan and still are clueless! Codes say 227 & 228 which are o2 bank 2 control deviation and o2 bank 1 control deviation.. Also I have 4x4 DSC Inactive light on and hear grinding noise underneath at stops. I assume Transfer Case Motor or Gear ??? Or oil ??? It feels like brake lock on when I stop down a hill.. What could it be??? Also... My check engine light has Always been on for years ( Map Thermostat) which every mechanic told me not to bother replacing... Recently The car has trouble starting every morning and when low on fuel. Maybe Fuel pump Relay?? Fuel pressure regulator?? Fuel filter?? Fuel Injectors ?? They cant figure it out! I Went to 20 car shops in 3 weeks and am really frustrated :( What could it be ??? Bmw X5 2006 3.0

That only fixes it when you have a “4x4!” light. If you have a abs, traction control you may have a wheel speed sensor problem or yaw sensor problem

I change the transfer case actuator and the fuse, but the abs and traction control light is still on, it says rear left abs is bad. Will that cause the awd to malfunction

This is my case as well with my 2011 bmw 328xi, rear left sensor not showing wheel speed on scanner with the live data. BUT I have replaced the sensor and bearing with OEM parts and still will not read wheel speed.
