Would love to see a video on setting the magneto and ignition timing on a 1955-1969 Boxer. Have had some problems with my R69 when it is warm and I do a gas-stop. Then it won't start again - it's probably a worn coil. And I'm looking through youtube and the rest of the web for a A-Z video on replacing the coil and setting the timing afterwards :) Just discovered your channel. Great stuff. Will definitely recommend it to all my Beemer friends. Greeting from Denmark.

Thanks for all the videos relating to R50/2s. I am currently working on the exact model left to me by my uncle. With 75,000 miles on the clock im concerned about the oil slingers, it looks like a big job to clean them. Thoughts on an slinger cleaning video? Thanks!

Yes it’s a big job, I was going to make a video but am am not very good at editing and it would take a couple days. In the future I will plan to make a oil slinger cleaning video.

So, worth mentioning would be the compressor pressure you are pumping in please. Also, if you were doing say a leak down test on a two stroke - after I have done one on my R69 - I am guessing that the shop pressure should only be 10psi yes?

Enjoyed this vid - really informative. So explain to me please. Compression test had large variance between cylinders which is contrary to what was shown on the leak down test. So why does the compression test contradict the leak down test?

they are 2 totally different tests.

Yes totally understand that but please explain why you would do a compression test Vs a lead down test. What discriminates between using one against the other.

With the compression in the right cylinder at 170 and left cylinder at 140 with that make a difference with the motor's over all performance?

yes, but it hasn't ran in 30 years! i am going to check it again after i run it a little bit. could have some oil in the combustion chamber taking up volume adding to the compression.

You did not mention opening the throttle butterflies (or remove the carbs outright). Why?

When We see you doing the compression test by Hitting DOWN ON on the starter pedal, You are promoting a BAD PRACTICE … Please lower the pedal, first engage the gears, then.
