You can use an Android screen as long as your iDrive powers on and can output sound via aux.

Hi. After watching your videos I decided to buy the same device for my e91 2012. The only problem that I think I’ll have is that aux is located in armrest storage box. Will that make any difference? I got an e60 528xi with a fuckton of miles for stupid cheap, and after 7ish months of ownership i got super bored of not being able to do anything with non nav CCC lmfao. I might end up picking one of these up with the carplay dongle and let you know how that goes if and and when i do!

Love the video helps me understand it now I installed my head unit 2 years ago but could never understand when I played music thought the Android screen there was never any sound I even install AUX CABLE into the back of my radio but still didn't work but makes since now like you say need to have it program till the car After I get the AUX CABLE programed how does the music from the Android screen play thought my car speakers

Hy , I have the same but my original ccc menu dose not display well , I tried to change the settings but I could not find a setting to fit . What can I do to fit the screen menu ?

I bought mine from the same seller though slightly different, no visible slot to the left of the screen and seller said mine was updated version. System is also slightly different, I have no Factory Settings option, only through the ‘Android Version: 10’ button where the password is ‘666666’ to enter. Not much things to adjust compared to what you showed. Wish there was a way to change the image of the car as its currently an X6. Also can you show how you could change the boot image, mine is currently displaying ‘MBMW’.

I bought the 12.3" SD662 with 256/8gb for e60 :-) You can remove the message "Phone is starting". Also you can run the AUX connection straight to the Quadlock connector (because AUX comes from there). No need to run any cable somewhere to the AUX in your car.

Just bought used e61 with android 7 model px3. Bluetooth works great it controls the phones media player and reads info about songs, but no sound. But, when there is a phone call all sound is there through speakers, any ideas?

i have an aftermarket headunit from BRENNAN i cant get the sound to work the screen works great , if the ccc navigation and dvd box isnt working will this prevent the sound ffrom working?

HI, i saw your videoa you seem knowledgeable. Maybe you could help me with one question. I have 2010 bmw 528i E60 iDrive CCC head unit, look like yours. After installing aftermarket sound system the door Gong/chime became VERY loud and it bothers me. My question, can i either turn the gong off completely or lower the volume in the iDrive? I ask alot of people they dont know how. I also have the software ISTA + and I know it can be done but not for my model. Let me know, Thanks!

Hello i bought a android unit for my e60 pre facelift and installed it but there is a problem when i stat android everything is good. Imagen i watch youtube and then when i go to idrive and get back on android the sound dissappear( its acutally there but the sound is soo sooo quit that you can hear it only when your ear go over the speaker) when reboot the system everything start working again. Just wondering how intuitive does it feel to use your touch display while driving? I'm debating picking this up or the 10 or 12.2" version. But I sort of hate that the 10" version doesn't look OEM. The screen looks a little far but maybe that's not an issue. (I'm also about to pick up an e61).
