In this episode, I get the intake manifolds reattached, all accessories and belts, carbon canister, intake and fuel injection systems finalised. And I attempt to start her up!

Well done Sir! This episode was worth the wait. It brought such a large smile on my face when you cranked her up! Keep up the good work! Finally I would definitely do the body work prior to the suspension etc...

Since you say there is rust in the rear suspension, you should remove the rear subframe and see what, if any rust is hidden. Great job by the way! I just finished doing the heads on my 91 850i, and my first start, happened pretty much the same as yours did😁

Hi Steve, it’s Alan, the last owner of your beautiful 850. Fantastic work under the bonnet and really pleased that the engine was in good enough condition to benefit from the extensive rebuild and all your effort. I hope the rest of the car can also take the work that’s needed. I look forward to seeing the videos when you are ready. Best regards.

That’s a beast of a job restoring the engine bay and the rebuild of top end. Always a bit worrying on first start ( just finished a total rebuild of my e39 M5) plus a huge relief when it fires up and completes its first heat cycle. I’ve been using your video for a diy guide on the intake gaskets for my 91 850i/6. The old wiring casing(plastic shielding) and rubber hoses (fuel, pcv) are completely brittle. It’s like delicate surgery trying not to break anything that isn’t being replaced yet at least until the engine is up and running again

An excellent job by a true professional and a Guiness test by a true Irishman ! I do like BMW they are superb. A few years ago I had an E32 seven series, 3 litre, which I kept for 10 years; Glacier Blue and Dove Grey leather. I miss it. Interestingly I sold it to a man from the irish Republic. A V12 8 series is the tops. I thinks its worth you carrying on with the restoration, thought its expensive.

Great project... at 13:35 your rubber fuel return line touches the air cond. fill line. You shoud add some extra thickness at the place where they touch if you cannot put some space in between. in time it will eat through the fuel line.

Respekt and thanks for this wonderful job, what a great pleasure to see the fruits of your work resulting in a shiny and perfectly working engine. I am looking really forward for your new videos. The main reason I bought a dirty E32 750i that sat for 16 years are your videos. Tks again.

Thank you Steve! I just did a lot of the same work to my 850 6spd. Practically new rubber parts everywhere, bead blasting intakes and other parts. I was hoping for this video 2 weeks earlier, however I got my car pulled together and running past weekend. Actually, your videos inspired me to dig deeper in my 850 and replace more necessary parts. Great to see your car start and run, great work!!!!

Great to see another 8 back on the road soon. I put a Quaiffe LSD fitted to my CSI so worth looking at, it makes a big difference in cornering and on wet surfaces. Having the whole rear axle refurbished with new bushes also notably a big improvement. New shocks all round will be worth doing,
