A couple of tips. I believe the screws, at least on my 1994, 325, are T 15 or T 20s. A second tip to get the cluster to tilt out is to use your thumbs on the bottom at the very widest part of the cluster and push in which generally tilts the top downward obviating the need for a screwdriver, credit card or other things. A cheap set of picks from Harbor Freight are less than 10 bucks and you’ll use them for all sorts of things. The biggest Takeaway is you have likely isolated the one soldier point that causes all the problems. That’s certainly worth the price of admission. Very surprised that your steering wheel did not tilt on the BMW. Mine is a flush lever on the bottom where you can tilt and move the steering wheel completely down, which makes removal much easier. Those plugs in the back are difficult if you don’t have a lot of room. Otherwise, good job.

Excellent, only one thing I would add, get a nice soldering iron, a small one with a small pencil tip. Keep the iron clean and you can use solder with a flux core, just saying ok. Nice work !
