My older sisters now husband had this car when he was in high school I look back as a little kid and tell him to this day I want one and he just laughs and says good luck finding one and he’s right

Thanks for the video. I am a proud M3 GT owner, I have 111/356 (EA40110). Had it now sice 2007, and it’s only those hard core BMW fans that recocgnize that it’s a special verision when I drive it. The rest just thinks it’s an old BMW 3 series.

You're very welcome :-) Really glad you liked it. The GT is definitely the connoisseur's choice that's for sure. First time I saw one was at the Nordschleife years ago and the colour and spoiler made it stand out, but that was it. I got to chatting to the owner and he said it was the best car for the 'ring, hands down. That would have been about 15 years ago and if I think about what he told me he paid for it, I should've bought one!

@@BrightsideMedia I bought my GT back in 2007 to use as a ringtool. I had a E60M5 and also a E46M3 Cabrio but neither was practical for ring use. The GT was about double the price of a similar M3 at that time, I paid 14.500 euro for my car, the range at that time was 11.900 - 17000ish on mobile.de. Through the years I have however modified my car quite a bit, still looks like a GT but has 2x the power (twin turbo), 6speed Getrag, Ceramic brakes from a McLaren and more stuff. Never really thought about it becoming a modern day classic.

The film was shot using an E39 M5 as the camera car ;-) It's what we use for all our films. The guy I spoke to at the ring paid 11k for his as far as I can remember. And what you paid isn't bad either. They're worth considerably more now. However, it doesn't sound like you'll ever sell with all the upgrades you've done! That must be a beast :-D

Im waiting for the day I can find one of these to import to the US because it is my fav E36 model. The E36 M3 that the US got was just a tuned-up 325i.

Beautiful and absolutely amazing video But I believe E36 m3 R is possibly one of/if not the rarest model of e36, only 15 were made for an Australian race series if I remember correctly (I'm not 100% sure)

It's correct that they were Australia only as a homologation special. The M3 R was a joint venture with Frank Gardner Racing, so not strictly speaking a 'pure' BMW product. The M3 GT is 100% made in Germany ;-) And on top of that, it wasn't any quicker than the stock car to 60 (despite costing more than double).

@@BrightsideMedia. Racing is very popular over here, especially motorbike road racing, i go to see them religiously, those bikers who road race are the bravest guys on the planet, your sitting on a hedge on a little B country road and they are going by you at 180 mph...

i bought one, a nice coupe 6 cyl. but do keep in mind, their engines are strong, but everything around it is prone to wear. look out for rust, rear subframe might rip out of the chassis, electric windows tend to fail, power steering leaks, and so on.

Well done, Brightside media! 🙌 Love the color! 💖 I have just one observation: At 1:41, you see the RPM meter. It has the same RPM pointer as the E36 M3 3.2L (7.600 RPM before it hid the red zone) as the 3.0L and GT normally max 7.350 RPM does. So I find it 'strange' to have find a video from a GT that has the same RPM zone as a M3 3.2L (instead of the 3.0L engine) I am not saying that it is fake. But it surprises me. Because I found it always regrettable that it didn't go so far in RPM like the 3.2L engine.

The M3 GT engine was not the same as the 3 litre in the standard E36 M3. The 3.2 litre made its peak power of 321 hp at 7400 rpm (not 7600). The GT makes 295 hp at 7100.

Order it from bmw(if it's not nla). Turner motorsports in the usa also sells the kit. It's not cheap. www.turnermotorsport.com/p-3399-m3-e36-adjustable-lower-front-splitter-kit/ That's OEM You can sometimes find them in the bmw classifieds too but that's much rarer these days.

The one that got away....I live in Sweden, I found a M3 GT on the web, at a used car dealership i England back in maybee 2009, since it was a LHD in England, they sold it for a good price (right side for me!), I think it was around 12.000 USD at that time...everything was good, they reserved it for me, but some a-hole bought it from right under my nose...the car was low milage and mint..today, it would be worth 10 times the money...well well.....😒

The reason for green color in 90teens was that Germany goverment was Selling out of warpaint and Bmw got it for a good price and the mixited with black and got the racinggreen 😮
