Bypassing EWS on a 95-01 BMW 740i or IL. This method might work for other bmws that have EWS system. Sometimes your original key might not work and when you try to start the car you might just get single click and car won't start. in that case try with your Valet key or another spare key if you have any. Or try changing the battery in your key. Hope this helps someone.
This is the Schemetic I followed check out my buddy Todd Smith channel.
Pin 6 + Pin 40 from the X60004 connector

So do you jump the connectors at the DME so that they are making a connection back to the DME as well. Because the way you did it you said it’s for your LS swap so you don’t have them bridged back at the DME or have that connector plugged in because you have no DME. I have an EWS problem and did everything exactly how you did and it did nothing.

Quick question, I have the 2003 330xi with the EWS not communicating. Bypassed it wit a fuse and it cranked over. So, how do I bypass mines without sending it to be reprogrammed

I unplugged the ews to get to Black red will it make difference? Or should I leave the other wires connected

Hi Sidhu I have 740i E38 1995 model and have the no crank no start issue I have checked the car has EWS 2 module found it behind glove box would the fix be applicable Furthermore these conditions connection you did in the bonnet I seem not to see that one the set up is different please kindly give guidance and you assistance would be greatly appreciated Regards Humphrey

Was this confirmed to work with the stock 4.4v8 ? And not a swap. This is the second time my rolling codes stopped communicating with ews and dme and I don't have softwares to program and what not and tired of paying for someone to reprogram so looking for a permanent solution to finish my car (01 740il E38)

I recently bough a e38 is been sitting for a while put a new battery key goes in normal but dont hear the starter relay kicking maybe this is my issue or the relay

Mhmm if you have to valet key, try with that it will work. I had the same thing happened to my last E38. I’m sure with the valet key it’s going to work. If that doesn’t work then try this method as well. This will work as well.. sometimes the battery in main key dies and it won’t let you start the car.. try with valet key first and then this method. Hope this helps and let me know if it does..

i have a 2002 e39 and i my key got broken and the electronics inside it broke so my EWS doesnt recognize it resulting in a no crank and no start condition. Would this make it so i dont have to drop $300+ on a new key?

yes this should work for you, all you are doing is bypassing the EWS in the steering column as you see in the video, and also you have to do the same in the ebox. Once you make the connections in the ebox it will allow you to bypass the DME lockout.

My starter clicked so i changed it, new one worked for 3 days. Bought another one didnt even start. Lamps and everything works fine, i can start the car if i jump the starter, grounded the engine to the chassi with a jumping cable but nothing makes it crank. Is it possible the ews going bad? Hi Sidhu, I'm having a similar issue on my BMW made 2003 L322 Range Rover, shares all the same electronics with the E38. Having an EWS issue myself and the car doesn't crank or if the starter relay is bypassed it cranks but doesn't fire. Gonna give this a try tomorrow. I'll give you a shutout on my channel. If it’s just single click it might your starter that’s bad ? Can you try tapping on it or take it out get it checked out. Hope you are able to figure it out soon! Search E38 group on Facebook there are a lot of people with good info on there.

@@darrylvaughan1423 but if you ews is fault then this should work. Make sure at the ews you are jumping both red and black wires together. maybe put a paperclip or another piece of wire like u shape to jump them and then go into the ebox and follow the other 2 wires to connect together.

Doing what this video says still wont enable injection and ignition ... All it does is connects key "start" position to starter relay pin.

Hey could this method work on my 96 750il which has two DME's.would I just need to identify the starter signal+ignition switch wires on both DME for it to work. I found the EWS 2 box cut the two large wires and now it will crank up. Any suggestions would help on the DME side. Thanx

It's connected to the dme. It's the x60004 (It's in the description)it's one if the dme connection clips (dme silver box says ms42 or ms43)

search for EBOX for your car year, it's where your ECU or DME is located in the car. And all you are doing is bypassing the EWS lockout.

As long as you connect these two wires in the ebox where your DME (ECU) it should be 40 pin connector.. connect.. Ignition switch wire + starter signal wire. That will bypass your dme and ews system. Follow the video to bypass the EWS system under your steering column..

it will work as long as you are following the wiring schemetics for the EWS lockout. That's what i pretty much did in the ebox by connecting the 2 wired together.
