Start with the simple check. Dsc has a fuse in the pannel, check that out, battery if is low will throw dsc error, abs sensor defect, hold dsc button at least 5 sec and after that press once or use inpa select dsc module and check for errors. Good luck 👍

This is normal. Every time when your car loses traction while driving, abs kicks in and light comes on and is cutting power to the wheels. That's why when you turn it off the car won't judge's. Abs tries to keep it straight on the road. If your lights are on when the car is standing then you have an error. And it's normal to have abs light and brake light on. Is the same system.

Becase the left wheel in the back sensor sends the speed signal on this car. Or you can scan it with a scanner

That might be just a bad abs sensor. The one in the rear left is giving you the speed so that one is working. You can scan the car to see exactly witch one. It might be a bad battery as well. If battery is low bmw will throw abs error first

@@WarpDriveM battery and alternator are fairly new. INPA showed " 15 pump error" as a stored fault code. The DSC compressor pump next to the brake booster spins when apply 12v directly. I haven't got any DSC and ABS lights on since it first came on a couple of days ago, the lights disappeared once I shut down the car and restarted. Cruise control only fails when the lights appeard.I have no idea if it's some bad wheel sensor or the unit behind the glove box. This makes my hair turn grey

If the abs module fits your car it doesn't matter the number....it can be newer no problem but it has to be vin coded for your car that's way you still have the lights on.

@@WarpDriveM i make al things . when i try ing to coding the vin on the abs its coming problem . i am using INPA NCS . and still . my car is ASC system and the module maybe DSC sytem is there a different . ?

In your case might be the abs pump or the abs module. You have to test it with a scanner to be sure. Anyway I'm pretty sure that your abs module is toast....

qUantUmpants run an diagnostic. Often enough it's an sensor. More rarely the module, likely cause it's cooked by heat. If it light comes on when the engine id hot, your module is possibly defect

Usually the e39 has a problem with the abs pump itself because of the location near the exhaust it starts throwing codes. You have to check it with a scanner

Did that issue cause your car to stall after heating to proper temp? I hear that module burns out now my 525 keeps stalling in traffic

That means that your abs pump is bad. Check first the fuse. If not you can send it to repair and you don't have to code it anymore. If you install a new or used one you have to code it or calibrate it

@@WarpDriveM everything else works fine speedo fuel guage temp guage ... when i start up the abs light doesnt go on than of it just stays of.... but the abs is working ..... strange thing ...when we read the codes and erase it the abs light stays on...than goes of but the asc always is on...also the handbrake loght is on and the hand brake isnt working at all at this moment

First you have to check which one is bad wit a scanner. The rear left one is sending the speed to computer and in most o the cases that one goes bad. If you replaced the sensors and the lights are still there then probably your problem is the abs pump

Warp Drive Thanks for your reply. My speedometer is working fine, instant fuel consumption gauge also working fine, basically everything is working well except the DSC & ABS lights are on. This is why I tried to change the front abs sensors to see if it works, The scanner did say it’s the DSC pump that had problem. But I just figure changing that would cost much more money and with your video and many other comments saying replacing the abs sensors would most probably have the problem fixed. Would you suggest I do another replacement on rear abs sensors or would you suggest I go ahead to target the abs pump? Any idea what might went wrong with the abs pump and is replacing a new abs pump the only solution?

To find out which one is not working you have to test the car. The rear left one is the one that sends the speed to the computer. Most likely that's the one

In cazul tau e modulul de pe pompa de abs. Dacă de obicei se aprinde cand e cald motorul 100% e modulul. Oricum trebuie testată sau poți schimba senzorul de la roata stângă spate si in cazul in care se reaprinde atunci e clar modulul.

Posibil sa nu ai nici un defect. Dsc se aprinde de fiecare dată când roțile din spate patineaza/alunecă. Dacă pleci cu patinare de roți o sa vezi ca dsc luminează indiferent daca e vara sau iarna. Dacă se aprind mai multe becuri galbene decât dsc atunci e o problemă cu modulul abs.

@@WarpDriveM How do I know the right wheel? The steering angle sensor error in my car showed. I replaced the steering angle sensor. but the fault has not changed. ??? only my DSC lamp is on in my car.

@@VadininHayaletleri you have to reset the steering angle sensor. With engine on go full lock left and full lock right and this will reset the steering sensor. For dsc error you have to scan the car. It might be a sensor, it might be low battery, a fuse even the pump...

That's the main problem on this cars. Because of the heat from the manifold it starts to melt the connection inside. If you have an earlier model you can repair it yourself (search on Google or KZfaq) if you have the facelift model you can't repair it at home because it isn't with solder anymore

Yeah.....a LOT of heat....I did notice that the whole engine bay was wayyyyy hotter than it has since i bought the car new in 03.
