I'm glad I found this video, currently 2001 330ci w/ steptronic - is at the shop for sluggish acceleration and rough idle. the shop has replaced all vac leaks, replaced the much needed CCV oil separator system, intake manifold gasket, oil filter housing gasket, new fuel pump and fuel filter, new Maf sensor and disa valve. this that being said my disa valve keeps keeps failing!! like alot, the mechanic says they install a new one and it was working fine all the power is back etc, etc, then i went to test drive it today and nope as soon as i left the lot i felt the sluggish acceleration and rough idle all come back again. The shop tech that was on the test drive with me was dumbfounded and confused when he saw i was having issues driving the car, then we switched seats and he drove it and he noticed instantly it was back to is (sluggish no power and rough idle again). anyway, so my question is - is a Continuous failure of the DISA valve ECU related or and electrical short in the harness???? just trying to figure out what other possibilities there could be why my disa is not functioning correctly. Ive had this car for oever 4 yrs no driving issues whatsoever and ever since my fuel pump blew and was replaced the disa valve has never worked the same again - Any input from you would be greatly appreciated. P.S I'm almost just ready to sell the car "as is" but i fear if i sell it cheap to someone and they figure it out to be some simple fix then they just got a awesome car for pennies on the dollar. I still REALLY LOVE the E46, is soo amazing to drive when is all working as it should. but as of now its a nightmare.

I am having an issue with my DME rom 2830 error. I was going to send in the DME to get it repaired. a full replacement might be an option. great video BTW.

thank you it is verry usefull if u buy a car and u dont want previous owner wanna steel it or other previous owners... just go to scrapyard annonimous car and make sure the car from the scrapyard had at least 2 keys great video..👍👍👍👍

or you could get another key & cut it program it to new ews...thats what did on my e46 320d.

Hey so do I need to replace the key cylinder or can I just replace the ecm and the plastic box and program a key to the box and use the old cutting ?

Awesome vid I need to do a ecu/dme swap to narrow down crank no start issue once done could I just swap the new keys chip into the old keys metal peace to avoid changing the locks and ignition barrel ect if that makes sense thanks

Hey man. My 2001 325i died like pre-quarantine. Took it to the shop in 2022 and it sat there for like 8 months or more. They told me it needed a new ECU/ECM, called the dealership and they said it would need a special order and it would be around $2k to get made, a rebuild is pretty expensive too. I see that there’s a few of them on eBay for under $100. Idk anything about this stuff but do you think I could fix it myself? Do I really need to swap everything or can I just swap the ECU?

Is there a part number for the black box with 5 fuses? or may be there are different part numbers for all 5 fuses? One more question - on my BMW e46 M43 (87 KW / 118 HP), Petrol Manual (there were produced before 09/2001), apart from these 5 fuses, there is also a fuel pump relay sitting behind the glove compartment (part number 61368373700), is that correct? So theoretically either of them might have gone bust, right? Many thanks!

Good morning. I have a start sequence problem on my BMW E46. On stage 1, all the lights on the dashboard light up as if we were in stage 2. And in stage 2 it remains the same.
