BMW E90 325i Rear Lower Inner Bushing Replacement How To

Here is a how-to on BMW E90 E91 E92 E93 E82 F80 F82 E84 lower inner control arm bushing replacement.
Does Your bimmer has too much negative camber in the rear? These bushings may be the reason why.
Proper bushing removal tool is needed - I saw a few places selling this bushing-specific tool for around $200 or so.
BMW calls it Rubber mount, roll-over strut with P/N 33326770829

@@maxsam201 Did you have to disconnect the exhaust from the hangers for the driver side? I'm wondering if it's worth changing these if I'm at 145,000 miles.

I don't remember ))) but would think that disconnecting all 3 rear hangers would allow you to move exhaust a few inches. Also, this is a single piece all the way to the down pipes, it's not much flexible. Rubber exhaust hangers do degrade over time, but it's hard to decide on the exact point for replacement, this 2006 car had about 200,000 miles and still had original pieces in good shape.

They close at 50 mm (2") exactly, Vibrant p/n VIB2790 and if i remember correctly, 2 - 2.25" size

I am doing all 12 Bushings on my BMW 335i E93, can you recommend an extracting kit for all the bushings or are they individual kits? Can you recommend some? That one looked heavy duty!

I guess any generic "bushing/ bearing removal " kit would somewhat do the job. SummitRacing etc. sells many different ones. Buying something BMW specific is usually not cheap at all, but there's a guarantee that it will work. I just don't have anything specific in mind to recommend, sorry.

Unfortunately, I can't provide you anything specific, what I used was just a bunch of pieces out of one or two bushing kits and something that I made myself. One of them was an E46 trailing arm replacement tool kit.

What size are them bushings? Just wondering what size t b clamps would i need? As special tool for this is just way overpriced. Thanks

Well, if you have watched the whole video, you would have known what size t-bolt clamps are :-) They are 2". As far as bushings go, I need to measure them, if you need exact numbers.

What is the outer dimension of the part that presses the bushing out? Im about to do the same job, and i have some pressing tools but would be nice to check if i actually have the dimension i need. Thanks!

@@Alpejohn in the process of doing the same.. this is the last bushing I have left to change on the subframe. I have a kit & there is only 1 black piece that is ~51mm but i cant see it fitting, maybe the rust.. were you successful? I already bent a steel rod lol

Was it worth it? The old bushing does not look cracked or off centered.

As far as I recall, they were not centered anymore.

@@Critical7hinking ah I see why you said that. I wonder if I meant ecs tuning. They have two kits around 200 and 250. Unfortunately you need both to do all of the inner and outer bushings and ball joints in the rear. I do not know if they work for the subframe or differential mounts though. Even using those kits, I had to buy some extra grade 8 hardware bolts, nuts, and washers. There's a video on KZfaq from some place called HCB tools that shows how to use the kit. Are you talking about a 12 piece kit of the bushings and ball joints for the rear, or a tool?

The main kit was that tool for E46 trailing arm bushings removal/ replacement, it was bought used a long time ago, so unfortunately I don't recall exactly where it came from. Any generic bushings removal kit should do the job.
